On top of my passion for Photography and Art, I am also a writer and I'd like to believe that although I'm far from perfect.... I think I do decently well.
My very first love of writing began with poetry. Emily Dickinson was my all time favorite poet. At the time I was a teenager with so many challenges and issues that her poetry always seem to capture my own feelings so perfectly. I was fascinated by her work. Today, the poet I admired the most was Maya Angelou. She had such an understanding to life and her writing expressed the pride and strength of being a woman in this world.
Writing has always come quite easily for me but expressing myself verbally was a whole other monster I could not master. so I wrote.... a lot. Here is just one of the poems I wrote when I was in my twenties.
I AM A WOMAN
I am a woman of many talents....
A woman of intelligence never understood.
I am a woman with a heart
That reaches beyond the soul-
To feel what others feel....
But I am never sought out.
I am a woman lost in a world
Of self-greed and self-gain
Because all I want to do is give.
I am a Woman
A Mother and a wife.....
I am a teacher, a cook, and a doctor;
I am a disciplinarian and a problem-solver.
I am an unending provider
for the needs of others-
A constant supply of love and care.
I am a woman that the world
May never know about.....
A valuable soul lost
to this selfish world.
A Creator of Life....
I am a Woman.
