For our table

Yesterday I made butternut squash soup. There is enough to have it one more time. We will have meatloaf, as I had one ready made in the deep freeze. I will likely microwave potatoes for us to eat with butter and sour cream. Possibly I will serve fruit and homemade yogurt for dessert, if I choose to be healthy. Otherwise it will be ice cream. It is getting to be time to think about food. Sometimes I think that and dishes is all that I do.

You can't make food without using dishes, so that makes sense. The soup sounds good, so does the meatloaf and homemade yogurt.

Often at the store there are trays of peeled and cubed butternut squash marked down. It makes preparing it so very easy. I love my marked down produce bargains.

@GardenGerty That's awesome. We don't have that here, at least not at Wal-Mart or Pic-N-Save where I do most of my shopping.

I went out grocery shopping yesterday, they had chicken wings for sale, so I made spicy chicken wings with blue cheese dip and celery sticks for dinner.

I would probably choose some other part, but the spicy flavor and blue cheese dip sounds really good.

Sometimes it's fun and other time a drudgery. Depends on the mood I guess.

Thinking creatively about food is fun, it is the chopping and dicing and then washing up that gets to be old.

I know getting two or three meals a day can make it seem like that is all you do.

Occasionally we just say that we are going to feed ourselves, but with his weight down I do not like to do that.

I blended the fruit and yogurt and added vanilla protein powder for a really thick peach shake.

With many things it is just as easy to double it when preparing, then freeze the extra.

We had leftover meatloaf tonight. We didnt finish it last night. Hubby has chili started for tomorrow. It will be very good with the colder weather coming.

Meatloaf and chili are kind of like universal cold weather foods.

That sounds good. I love it at Panera Bread. I love Aldi's version. I have brought a can of it from Progresso 2 weeks ago. Let me how it goes and turns out.

I make my own and it is always good. I never tried canned butternut soup. I learned to make it at a chestnut grower's festival a few years ago.

@GardenGerty Cool. I did find a crockpot butternut squash recipe on Pinterest over this weekend. So I might do that next month.

My husband does the cleaning up when I cook and complains about all the pots and pans I use.

I try to use as little as possible. He is the person who will use every pan and knife in the place. I do all the dishes and cleaning up.

I have yet to figure out how to do small meals. The reason I even had the extra meatloaf was that this summer I had some bell peppers and some meat that needed to be used. I made a meatloaf for then and one for "whenever". This was "whenever". It made a nice hearty meal.
