My intelligent boy

I sometimes forget just how bright my son is. He doesn't always show it but he actually does well academically. He scores above average in several areas but especially reading. I imagine he would in science too if they actually tested him in that area. He doesn't miss anything and he has all of this stuff going through his head all the time. He never stops thinking and his imagination is probably way more active than the average 8 yr old's. They said they believe part of his issue is the inability to express himself on paper because of his writing. They said he is this bright kid with so much going on his head and no real way to get it out and I know how frustrating that has to be for him. Today he asked me if the earth is alive. I mean it sort of baffled me because I wasn't sure of the answer. He then proceeds to tell me he wants to know because of everything on earth that is alive. I even googled it and was given mixed answers. It depends on what you mean by alive and there are all of these theories. My son wants to be a scientist when he grows up. He has a fascination in everything science. He watches Myth Busters and story bots. He reads every science book he can get his hands on. He gives us science facts almost every day. He asks all of these amazing questions I would never think to ask. He is so curious of everything around him and just wants to know more. While most kids want to go to Walt Disney World my son wants to go to Yellowstone Park. He loves rocks, dinosaurs, fossils, animals, and space. He gets excited over a trip to the planetarium. I remember when he was 4 he asked me if birds could hiccup and I had to look it up and the answer was no they could not. I didn't think so but I wasn't sure. I mean he has always come up with really intelligent questions. He never fails to surprise me at how insightful and intuitive he is. He has these issues but then he has this other side of him that is sometimes missed because of his behavior. My son while strongwilled and over emotional is also incredibly smart, caring, kind, funny, polite, gentle, and intuitive. He wants to help everyone. He has these two completely different sides of him. He can be stubborn and act up but then he has all of these amazing qualities. I mean no one is perfect and my son has his bad days but then I see this amazing little person and I'm just so proud of him. He's messy, he hates all things sports related because he's not overly coordinated but you give the kids LEGOs and he can play forever if it has step by step directions he usually figures it out. He knows so much more than he often shows. I just wish people could overlook his bad qualities and see the good ones. This little boy will one day turn out to be an amazing man. I know he is a better person than me at the age of 8 than I will probably ever be. I'm so proud of this kid. I tell him that daily and I tell him I just want him to do well and be himself. He sometimes uses this to explain away his behavior but at the same time I can't help but be amused. The other day he told me the kid that sits beside him always talks to him and he gets in trouble because he talks back and he informed me that he can't help it because that's just him and I had to stifle a laugh. He said he knows he could ignore the kid but he can't seem to help himself. My son is a very friendly kid and loves to talk so I mean he isn't lying when he says that that's just him. I did tell him he needs to learn to control the impulse to talk to the kid and just tell him he's busy working. He says he knows and will try harder. Anyone that truly knows my son can't help but love him. The problem is so many people don't fully know him and judge him based on a few actions that he often has a difficult time controlling due to his issues.

I understand how proud you are on your son. He will be a scientist for sure in future. The children who have their own passion and aims will definitely reach there. Stay blessed.

Thank you, there's still time for him to change his mind and he might but I know he has the potential to be anything he wants to be if he works for it.
