Laughable theories you've heard?

I was once on the soapbox (movie database), and they claimed that you should never defriend someone on Facebook, for they will find out.
Isn't this laughable, to say the least?
Since when can they find out?
The only way I can see this happening is if they recently made their account, and they just have five friends. Case closed.

If facebook decided to put a notification for people who defriend you, maybe you will know. Otherwise? You never know who defriended you if you have thousand friends.
