A little high and a little low

My work online is one graph that is never steady. One day it is so high, the next it hits rock bottom, then it swings back to a real high. We could easily be swayed by the winds of circumstances. I was thinking about this and then this thought came to me - A little high then a little low, life is never a straight line. When it flows in a straight line your heart has stopped and breath has left your body and you are a corpse not a person anymore. Seems a little morose but that is the truth. In the light of such thought I think the high and lows are a real blessing. Does this make sense to you?

I completely relate to this. Having gone through a difficult period a number of years ago the medication I was given completely flatlined me. The lows were gone but so were the (very few) highs. I definitely felt that I was existing rather than living. I just couldn't live like that so stopped taking the meds and worked out other ways of dealing with the lows without sacrificing the highs.

@WorDazza Wow that is a great comeback story. Kudos to you for throwing off the meds and working your way through alternate means. It takes a lot of courage to do so.

@sofssu Thank you, but to be honest it seemed like the natural thing to do when things I'd previously enjoyed started to have no meaning in my life. It's all well and good not to experience extreme lows but when everything just becomes a bit (or a lot) meh something has to be done.

We are governed by what happens around us and that dictates our mood apart from our own mind set. So ups and downs are a part of life.

@allknowing true ups and downs are part of life but we don't have to be governed by them especially our moods. Being able to accept it as it is helps keep our mood in order.

I consider them one of my blessings. I get to low most of the time and I get high when the boyfriend lifts up my spirit or some friends.

@Sheali The thought started wit online work, but it wasn't exactly about it, its about life in general. Online work is just a minuscule part of life.

Life is dynamic. If it was always flat what is the fun of being alive?

@sofssu Hmm... Get back up? Just don't ever give up I think. Because life is like a wheel. There will be times when we are above and then there are time we are down.

No, not really. I'd have nothing against experiencing only highs. My writing doesn't become better when I have financial lows.

@MALUSE I have nothing against the highs too, but life has its own way of balancing things and we just have to adapt to it.

it's the ups and downs of life. Life is like a wheel of fortune. Opportunities come like bubbles they appear together some big some small that you do not know which bubble to hold until you realize they are not there anymore.

I have read this quote from a calendar but I am not certain if I got it or remember it correct. Credit is due to true owner and please correct me if there's wrong. It says that life is full of ups and downs. When up, just enjoy the view from the top and have courage to face when you're down.
