Having a Rough Day...

As some of you may know, I have been off work recently for medical leave to deal with my mental health issues. Well, I was supposed to get paid today and ... nothing. I contacted my manager and she said she will look into it. I hate that my finances are left in someone else's hands at this point. I am definitely not ready to go back to work, but if I don't get paid within the next day or so I will have to go back and I am worried how that will affect my mental health as I am definitely NOT ready to go back. My benefits from work should have kicked in by now, and I should be getting paid. I hope my manager gets back to me soon. This added stress is not good for my mental health at all. Have you ever been in a financial struggle? How do you cope without losing your mind? (Photo is of me in my back yard.)

@MissNikki Money I would think unless people have enough is something we can very much stress over. I have had my fair share of times when I really needed it and someone helped me and now trying to keep it so I will have enough for emergencies and for Sophie and I to live.

@MissNikki Oh bloody hell. I really hope this issue gets sorted. This is not the stress you need right now. Like you said you need to get paid or do the very thing you're meant to be taking time away from! This just angers me. I don't like when stuff like this happens. I don't mean I know what it's like to be in the position you are in but I've been ...actually about 5 times recently been in a position where my money was cut off due to their mistake and not mine. I have quite a bit of money troubles. I am pretty good with money really but sometimes due to certain occasions, my money goes down and I'm left with very little or nothing but I'm lucky at the moment because I live with dad. And he is understanding if I can't pay rent straight away. Wishing this to be sorted for you!

I'm sorry you have gone through financial troubles as well. I'm glad you have your dad to help you. Now that we own our house there won't be any delaying mortgage payments - if we can't pay, we get a penalty. Hopefully it will not come to that. I have to wait til Monday or Tuesday to get paid, and it might not even be the full pay check ... ugh.

I'm sorry to hear that you're in this situation. I know what it's like to struggle with mental health and financial issue. I do have to deal with both often enough. So I can relate. It's not easy. Hopefully, your manager gets back to you soon. As for the mental health thing, just breathe. Sometimes I'll go for a walk or something. It does help sometimes. I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but it will work out somehow. If you need to talk, I'm here. I'll gladly listen.

Hello! It's good that you have decided to put yourself first and took some time off to help improve your mental health. Yes, right now I have plenty of financial struggles how I deal and not lose my mind I have no idea. :) Well, I can tell you what I do now to help reduce some of my stress. In the morning I do my daily meditation and morning prayer to start my day off with some positive thinking. I also exercise which helps relieve a lot of stress. When it is nice outside I take long walks nature always puts my mind at ease. Laugh more worry less which I know is not always easy but it is worth a try. I hope it all works out for you hun!

Thank you - I am trying to do some walking every day or every 2nd day, spending time reading, making fresh fruit and veg smoothies. Thank you for the ideas for de-stressing.

I hope that the manager will get back to you soon. If she doesn't, is there a higher up that you can call who would be able to help you more directly? Take a deep breath and do something that makes you smile, that distracts you from the worry as much as possible. I've had issues with depression and anxiety for many years. I had to learn ways to cope while working and while being unemployed. Every day I listen to a relaxing piece of music, even if it's only for a few minutes. I also use a coloring app or otherwise color. I read fiction and that helps me too. I had to get away from a job that was changing who I am as a person. I haven't worked outside of the home since 2017 and some days are more financially stressful than others because of that. I've sold some things to help pay some of my bills from time to time.

Thank you for the suggestions - I ended up going for a nice drive through the forest and walked around a river where salmon usually go to hatch in the fall. No salmon to look at today but beautiful to just be with the trees and watch the water flow. Now watching a Harry Potter marathon which always cheers me up.

Been thru many Financial struggles in my Marriage due to Medical issues. I had to take permanent disability around 4 yrs ago, and really miss working, but besides my Disability check I have found other ways to earn some extra $$

What are the ways you have found to earn extra money? I'm sorry you had to stop working. I am supposed to go back to work in March.

I love that photo so cute When a person is deprived their pay, it is the worse thing especially when you are already suffering. And the fact that you have yet another stressor is very bad. I hope they get themselves together and do the right thing. Sorry this happened. What I would do would get right into it with them. I would be mad. Which of course is not good for mental health.

Thank you. I did contact my manager and our HR and payroll department and let them know how wrong this is and that I want it reversed as soon as possible. They are trying to get me some money by Monday or Tuesday, but I don't even know if it will be the full amount. Thanks again for your support.

I HAVE been in financial struggles before. But one thing I learned early on is NOT to leave my financial fate in someone else's hands. Time to decide whether you want to be beholden to someone or some THING. They have a business to run. You have a life to live. They are not responsible for your life, but if you work for them you ARE responsible for their business.
