Cold Snap!

We are in the middle of an artic blast here. It is always to be expected in Minnesota, - and January is our coldest month, however it is something to adjust to as the rest of this winter has been fairly mild.
Temperatures have been dipping down into the teens-below-zero and that's in Fahrenheit. I don't know how to convert the negative digits into Celsius, but I've heard that @xander6464 has an assistant who is awesome at it. Anyway, on all accounts - that is really, really cold.
Today is kind of the start of it, and tomorrow and Thursday are supposed to be pretty cold as well. Wednesday, it's supposed to get down to -35 (that's negative 35, or 67 degrees below the point at which water freezes). With windchill it's supposed to be -65. Ugh. Schools are closed and I shouldn't doubt that a lot of businesses will be closed as well. I do not plan on going anywhere - and I am very grateful that I do not work outside of my home.
For those who haven't experienced it - when it is this cold - even though you are in a warm home - you can feel the cold in your bones. If you have to venture outside - you feel the moisture in your nose freeze - it gets very pokey. Exposed skin feels like razor blades if there is a wind.
That said - I guess there is some what relief - you are not expected to be anywhere, everyone understands staying in when the weather is quite this cold.
To those in the path of this winter vortex storm - stay warm, and stay safe.
Picture is mine, of me. I'm wearing a project that I started and set aside 3 years ago. It's a poncho. Alright basically it's a big rectangle of triple crochet. My idea was to wear it folded in half as a scarf, and then, if needs be, one can unroll it and it's a blanket like shawl. Perfect for this weather. :-D

Beautiful picture. You should take more of them! It's too bad you didn't make about ten thousand extra of those ponchos. You probably could have sold them this week.
Sunni, my Director Of Meteorological Relations says that -35 F is -37.22 C and -65 is -53.88 C. I don't understand how C suddenly becomes less than F as it gets really cold but she says it's right.
It's supposed to be -22 (-30 C) here tonight. But I'm not complaining. As far as you know.

Oh my gosh -35!!! I've seen windchill temps here that bad but never actually temperatures that low. I think the worst it usually gets in actual temps here is -110. I never ever want to go to Minnesota after hearing this

Oh yes, it does tend to get this cold once or twice a year. Cold snap like this. It's just that now we are unlucky enough to have a wind with it, too.
Lol. What state are you in again?
We can actually get up to 100-120 in summer. :-)
Ah yes, good eye there. I do have purple in my hair, lipstick and necklace as well. I love purple.

@FayeHazel I am in Pennsylvania. I tried to set it to show that but for some reason it doesn't show up. I may have to try to resave the settings when I am on my computer next as it wouldn't let me change my name from my tablet either so I had to do it on my desktop.

Yes, it is perfect for this weather. You're colder than we are. We have -50 predicted. I did see a couple of places on the map that was colder. This morning we were at -47 when I looked at the weather. I expect it will get colder as the day goes on.

@FayeHazel I didn't leave the house. When I checked the weather this morning it was -39 wind chill, -20 air temp. It will still be in the negative 20s tonight wind chill. Then this weekend spring wants to get in on the action as we rise into the upper 40s. Unreal!

I remember growing up in Minneapolis winters. They are very very cold and long. I do not miss them. I love that picture of you. You look great.

Oh yes, the news yesterday said that it's the coldest winter in 26 years. (Amazing to think that 26 year old adults have never experienced this cold of weather)

@FayeHazel Oh I wish I could, absolutely. Actually today it was sunny outside. It curious in my city all nights are fresh, however all January evenings have been really cold but not at the point of freezing, I guess it has something to do with winter happening there in the North. PS: Nice picture, you looked gorgeous! ;)

I can understand. If we can feel the chill when temperatures are like 16C Max and 4C min, then -30 or below in C can be indeed too tough.
And those who have to venture outside must be braving a lot!
