Hubris syndrome, the disease of power

The concept of hubris is drawn not only from Greek philosophy - it is found in Plato and Aristotle - but also from the theater, where it allows to tell great epics, where success goes to the head of the hero, who claims to to rise to the rank of the gods; he is mercilessly put back in his place by Nemesis, the goddess of vengeance. The Greek hybris refers to immoderation and its fatal consequences. It combines narcissism, arrogance, pretentiousness, egotism, even manipulation, lie and contempt. The term also refers to a feeling of invulnerability, invincibility and omnipotence, associating a certain pathos. Like narcissism, hubris also means a lack of interest in everything that does not concern the subject personally, a general absence of curiosity. The main feature of hubris is that it is visible to all except the principal concerned and his followers. Adapted to the politic, one immediately sees profiling some candidates with the syndrome of hubris.
