Today is poetry day in Belgium, and in schools we truly celebrate it. Poems are hung all around the place. This year's theme is 'freedom'. I'm a language teacher, so any form of literature is interesting to me, though I have to say that I prefer prose over poetry. Do you like reading poems? Is there a poetry day in your country? Tell me all about it!

I've read poems by Cummings, but I don't think I know Frost.

I don't think we have a poetry day in Australia. My mother loved poetry and learnt a lot of old poems at school. She could still recite many of them years later.

That's great! I don't think I can recite any poems by heart.

We don't have a poetry day in Canada. Sounds like a lovely idea, though I prefer prose too.

Yes, it's quite nice for the students to get acquainted with poetry.

National Poetry Day is the first day in October in the US. I have written poetry for many years and since every state has a Poetry Association, entered some in our association contests. Some did well. Since retirement, I have read and written lots of poetry and am submitting for publication. I was lucky to have five published recently in an online journal.
