First snow of the year coming tomorrow

Japan

Tokyo is not good at snow. Tomorrow is our first snow of the year. It is probably not going to be that much, but everyone is panicking. The school has cancelled all their sports events and a robotics competition that was scheduled for tomorrow. I grew up in an area where a little snow was no biggie and we had good snow plows and snow tires. Tokyo doesn't have much snow, so they have not invested in the equipment necessary. No plows, salt trucks, snow tires, etc. So it's chaos when it happens. I love snow in my home area but not so much here! How does your area handle snow? Are you a stereotypical northerner or southerner?

I was born in the north of Italy, I have the habit to cold and snow. Switzerland is a snow country and I like snow if I do not need to go out.

If by any miracle we were to have even the lightest snow here, it would be chaotic.

I'm so sorry, I hope everyone will stay safe. I grew up in the North but now live in the South, if it snowed here I think people would be panicking as well.

We wouldn't be geared up for snow but we never have snow anyway so that's okay. But I can understand that an unexpected snowfall could make a huge difference to the order of the day.
