I confess to be drinking a beer.

Beer is not a drink I usually have. Sometimes, not many, I steal a sip or two when at a picnic or when eating a pizza. My drink is either water or a glass of red wine. But today it was so hot that I looked at the fridge to see if there was a bottle of carbonated water. And I found a wonderful bottle of beer. I opened and came to my desk to drink it mylotting Do you say 'bottoms up' in this case? I say 'salud' in Spanish.

As far as I know you say 'bottoms up' if you are intending to empty the whole glass in one go - at least this is what I've always thought. A native speaker of English may enlighten us.

Probably so. More for liquors in small glasses like whiskey or the like. Salud, on the other hand, is said in any case.

@marguicha 'Salud' is a more refined term than 'bottoms up'! :-)
