Movie Review: Mary Poppins Returns

I have to say upfront, I never saw the original Mary Poppins so I was not comparing the two movies, I was just enjoying the new version with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt.
I found the movie quite entertaining, the singing was good, the kids were adorable, Meryl Streep was odd, to say the least, and I have never before seen Colin Firth looking anything but drop-dead gorgeous before.
Once I got over the shock of Colin being a meany, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The cameo at the end by Dick Van Dyke was charming and perhaps the best moment of the film
I am very glad that I went to see it and now I think it is about time that I saw the original. I would say this is a good film for the whole family to enjoy.

I probably wouldn't have gone to see it but my daughter was here visiting and she wanted to see it so I went with her, and I am glad I did, I will watch the original when I get the chance.

I don't think I've seen the original, or at least not all of it.. but also wanted to see this. May still, when it comes to redbox.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, we do like to actually see a movie in the theater once in a while, especially here in Florida where the theater is particularly nice.

But Julie Andrews isn't Mary Poppins so to me it means remake @BelleStarr I'll have to watch it to see if it fits that description.

It isn't a remake, it is more of a continuation.

It is a family-friendly movie with no violence or bad language, a rarity these days.

@BelleStarr This is the kind of movies we need, there is enough violence in real world.

I am not quite sure why I have never seen the original but I guess I should rectify that forthwith.

I want to see this movie and was so glad it is not a remake in the sense of a remake but having the kids from theorignal as grown ups and Mary returns to help from what I have seen in the previews. When it comes out on DVD there will probably have a package deal where you can get both the original and the new one.
