The listening room

I recently (well, fairly recently) sold a couple of pairs of speakers that I restored over the years. I made a decent chunk of change ($1360) for the two pairs, but more importantly, I was able to clear up a bit of space in my listening room. Here's a picture of my listening room as of a couple of weeks ago. As you can see, I still have too many speakers, and only the pair on its side is for sale. Each pair has some sentimental value for me, but I have to keep "thinning the herd," or my smallish apartment will be dominated by stereo gear. Do you have a hobby that "takes up space"? If I move into a larger place, I'll try to have a dedicated work area and speaker storage area. For now, my walnut speakers are a part of the "aesthetic" of my living space.

Most excellent! Will you have a "dark room," as in the old days?

@LovingMyBabies Sounds good. Can you take a photo of me (attached) and make me look young, slender and handsome? That is NOT my best angle.

Am I correct in assuming that doesn't take up too much space?

That is a nice chunk of change for those speakers. My second bedroom is my dedicated workspace.

Got it. If I had a second bedroom, it would be my music room.

Thank you. My goal is to get as many of these "older" speakers as possible into living rooms, where they all belong.

@TheHorse You shouldn't have a problem if they all look like that and the old speaker were always the best sounding.

I sued to have a lot of yarn in boxes but I've thinned that out completely. Probably Vince's photo gear takes up most space but it's packed away out of sight.

Yes, several - my house is full of plants, books and sewing projects. And then there are various other projects (usually involving furniture) in the garage!

My office is full right now, with products for Sunshine`s homestead creations. All the working outside is for clearing an area for the building to be placed, then I will have a store right here on the homestead. And I will have my office back, no clutter and easier to clean.

@TheHorse That is great that you sold them and have more room now. Since we do not have a storage. It belongs to the landlord and I cannot use it so have to have things in the apartment and try and find some order. I have downsized things and continue to do it.

My hobby of reading and collecting books has taken up a lot of space. Now I am planning to thin it out by donating a few to library. That is a tough decision and I have to come over my sentimental connection to those books. It is going to take some time. I have no more place in my house for books. Meanwhile I am not buying a new one till I get rid of a few of them.

Most are from the very early 1970s. The black ones holding the sideways KLH 17s are DCM Time Windows. Those are from the early 1980s.

@fluffy69 There are many people out there who want good sound and good aesthetics. These were the speakers I couldn't afford as a child, but revered. Many of my friends' parents had them. Now I can afford to buy them all scratched up and fix them up. It gives me great pleasure to get them back into living rooms, where they belong.

@TheHorsed then you must be selling them because they are collector’s items already. My father-in-law also has such.

I do and that's collecting planners and journals along with its accessories. I don't have a craft room yet where I could put all of them but I plan to organise everything soon as I need an office space in this house as well.

I collect steam locomotives. I sometimes wonder if it's worth it because they do take up a little space. And constantly laying track for them is starting to get expensive.

I used to collect a few things. But over the last few years I have been slowly getting rid of some stuff as I got tired of keeping the pieces clean.

Yes we are sometimes attached to some things in our house which we don't want to replace by other things. I have five sound boxes for tv and dvd player.
