My firestick is acting wonky

For those unawares, this is a little USB type device that plugs into my HDMI port. It's an amazon product. It is not literally a stick with fire on it. This is the second time that it has rebooted. Well, probably the second time today actually, so then it's the third time in total. The other day I just took it out of the HDMI port and let it sit out for awhile. I will probably do the same today. I do hope that it won't continue to do this. If it does, I guess I will be looking into getting a Roku. What apps / channels does the Roku support, does anyone know? Does it plug to your t.v. from the HDMI port? Hopefully, I won't have to find out. Does anyone else have a firestick that's gone wonky?

I use a Roku and never had a problem with it, I don't know anything about the fire stick so I can't tell you if they support the same channels, I have a but loads of stations download to my Roku though.

@hillhjill I can get the amazon app on another t.v., so if roku doesn't... But I am hoping my firestick will behave. I've just plugged it back in to test it out.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I know they have Netflix and Hulu, I'm not sure about the Amazon video app I never looked.

I have a Firestick in the bedroom, but it isn't wonky. It is slow, but apart from that it always works. Sharing my bedroom with Vikings is a real pleasure, so I'd be sad if it all went wrong.

Mine just reset itself a few times. I am hoping it's done with that nonsense. I didn't test to see if it would do it on every app, I was watching youtube at the time. Have yet to watch vikings, though I think I'd like it.

@Poppylicious That would have been nice. I don't remember what all we studied. I know it was the Tudors and the world wars, The American Revolutionary, some things about Egypt, about the Aztecs as well. Things that were rather boring to me, atleast at the time. I've come around a bit on The Tudors.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh, I forgot about Egypt. I remember learning a bit about them at primary school. And, of course, the Romans.

I don't even know how a firestick works. Do you buy these things pre-loaded with movies or is it a subscription plan, does it require internet? Anyway, sorry I can't help you but I imagine someone can.

Nope, a firestick is basically a USB device that has the ability to have apps downloaded onto it. It's like a chromecast device or a roku. It's just amazon's version of it. I have netflix, hulu, an amazon on mine.

@LittleMama39 This was more of a complaint than it was asking for help. I wanted to know more about other options, in case it does crap out. Thank You Though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Do you know what version of fire stick you have? That would help us figure out what might be the issue. If you don't remember.Do you possibly know when you bought it?

Please say more than "nope" in a discussion. You earn by discussing, which requires more thought. Even if you are unable to help, mentioning that would do better. Please don't take insult to this, I mean no insult. I am only trying to help.

We bought a TV that came with an internal ROKU. I do not watch TV so I cannot help you much as to what you will get with it. I get e mails from ROKU frequently about what we can watch and how to find it. The Television was less than $150.

That isn't bad at all for a television with roku capabilities. I do not need a whole new t.v., just a new device to watch my subscriptions on, well, possibly. I am hoping it won't break. I won't be getting another firestick because I am trying to stay away from amazon. I canceled prime, I will keep prime video though. That's my only concession.
