Diary of a Cadillac 2.15.2019

Anthony has faith in me, in spite of the several issues I am having. I am a 1995 Cadillac. I am a Seville SLS class luxury sedan. I once had good get up and go but now that I'm nearly 25 years old my get up and go has done got up and went. Today, Anthony got up and tried to start me because he still thinks I have what it takes. Well, I hate to disappoint. But I have a lot of oil leaks lately. Maybe it's just what happens when you get old I guess. Started up just like that for the umpteenth time. I have a lot of miles behind me. Something like 185,000 miles since I first left the assembly line. But since I got a few transplants, namely a new pace maker, aka Idle Control Motor, I sometimes idle too fast all of the sudden. When Anthony presses the brake pedal my racing motor slows back down. It's almost as if I have had an adrenaline rush. I guess I get excited knowing that I am near the end of my lifetime warranty. Anthony got me to idle back to normal after fiddling with my brakes and accelerator pedals. And he took me for a test drive around the block a couple of times. His wife got angry at him because he told her he wouldn't be driving me today, but said he only wanted to start me up and make sure I was still able to run like I always had over the years. Well I like to keep on running for sure, but after that test drive, I had some trouble keeping the speed up without shaking a little on acceleration. When Anthony got me back in the driveway, he seemed to be taking notes. Something he thought was a bit off. The thing that was off was my idle speed not running as smoothly as it should, but then if you had been driven over 185,000 miles you too might be a bit hesitant to start and a little bit shaky in the morning. Anthony thought I needed some get up and go juice so he added a little bit more mechanic in a bottle to my gas tank. It was to me a bit like coffee is to him. It cleans out the system but you really have to drive me around fast and for a long time to burn off the extra fat that seems to accumulate when I am only driven at the average 35 mph speed limit. I want to go faster. I want to take it to the limit but Anthony is hesitant to even take me out of the driveway these days. While he is fond of me, I know I have let him down a time or two. Why, just yesterday he and his wife wanted me to take them to the library but after I shook and rattled and began to roll back out into the street from the driveway, I just lost it. I mean. I just did not budge an inch. His wife was determined to get me back in the driveway before another car on the road crashed into my bee hind. I mean, Anthony was out there trying to push as his wife continued to take me from park to drive until finally I managed to clear that danger zone and get parked back in the driveway. Whew! That was a close one! I had to take a break. Anthony and his wife got out and I sat there with smoke pouring out from under my hood and Anthony thought I might be on fire. Well, It was just the oil from one of my many leaky gaskets and O - Rings! Later on that morning, Anthony added yet a bit more go juice into my gas tank. He started me up and only let me idle a while and backed me up and went forward a few times. I wasn't going on a road trip that day. I knew it might be the end of the line for me, but this morning, after I got to be driven a while around the neighborhood, I was again confident that Anthony would find a way to keep me going a little longer. While I sit in the driveway, an old car, with many miles behind me, I hope for a tune-up and maybe some mechanic can find exactly what I need to get back on the road again soon.

Poor Cadillac. You need to see the car doctor. Maybe he can help.

I love this diary of a Cadillac. Now that it has reached old age he is a classic.
