Let´s Talk Being a Stay-at-Home Wife

Egypt
February 15, 2019 3:31pm CST
My fiancee and I are currently residing in Egypt. He´s Egyptian, I´m not. Before coming here, I had a teaching job, which I fell in love with. So far, I am unemployed and felt like I´m losing my identity. Have you been or are you a stay-at-home wife? Let me know your story and let´s talk in the comment section.

I am a stay at home wife/mother. My identity is not in this world, I'm a child of God and my worth comes from HIM. I Home School my children, I do photography, I just started a natural products business and I take care of my family. =)

@jamiemill You may need to find out how it's done in Egypt and if there is anything you need to do in compliance there before figuring out what you want to do. Are you able to get a paypal account while living there? I've no idea if mylot only works with paypal or something else too. Some people are artistic and either make designs or take photos of things in their area and sell them on websites that will put the designs or photos onto pillows, coffee mugs and just about anything, and you can make money from the sales, but I've no idea whether that type of thing is available to anyone living in Egypt. One of them is called zazzle.com

I had not been employed since my husband and i married. That had been 32 years, with seven chidren. Now, my youngest is 13, and I've been working casual, 2 night shifts a week as a kitchen hand. They pay well. And I'm very happy with my new-found renewed independence. :-) (I was a teacher, as well, before I married). I've homeschooled all my children since kinder through high school. You don't have to lose your identity and your dreams.

It sounds like you're doing the right thing though, learning the language and the culture. Immerse yourself in the local community, an opportunity for empl0yment will eventually arise.

What are your chances of getting another job in Egypt? Do you like being a stay-at-home wife.

All job opportunities are within the capital, which requires me to travel there. I´m currently learning the language and still adjusting to the culture. I don´t like staying at home and I feel the urge to be productive and just for my brain to function.

No,I have not been stay-at-home wife. After my ex left us I was forced to be stay-at -home mum for couple of months, but now I work part-time.I would never ever rely on anyone.I`ll rather get my own income.

Hi, welcome to My Lot.. I think just your job doesn't decide your identity.. you are much more than that... You had an identity even before you had a job.. Your thoughts, passion and decisions in life make you who you are.. So if you are happy with life.. it is ok.. For a few days, Your identity is that you are a person who is loved by someone special
