Cleaning the pantry....

Perth, Australia
February 15, 2019 4:34pm CST
So since my dad is away in hospital, I decided to give every room in the house ( except my dad's and brother's room ) a good clean! We also have a rent inspection in 4 days so that's just double the reason to do this. I wanted to show you what I've done with the pantry. On the left is how it looked before and on the right is how it looks so far. I need to do the very bottom and then I'm done. ( need to pack away the shopping bags more neatly ) I took everything out, wiped down the shelves and mopped the floor. Since my dad will be continuing his very strict diabetic diet when he comes back home, I have got rid of anything that he shouldn't eat. I didn't chuck away all the food. I have bagged them up and will be giving it all to my friend who I have mentioned before. ( the one who has some money issues ) So her and her daughter can have some more food. This took me a couple hours to do but I'm so happy it's done and less chaotic. Next I will be going through all the cupboards and draws in the kitchen. See if I can get rid of more things to which I will donate to charity. Wipe down all the shelves, then place everything I'm keeping back in neatly. I'm trying to declutter the house as much as I can to make it more nice looking for my dad's return.

Well-done I see the difference. Also that's so nice of you to give the food you don't need to a friend who does need it.

Very impressive! You did a great job cleaning out the pantry. I'm sure your dad will be happy to see the house so clean upon his return. After my dad passed away a couple of years ago, I drove down to her house and did a thorough cleaning of the entire house. I knew my brother and my mom were too emotional to go through everything, so I wanted to help them out and take care of it for them. They were very grateful that they didn't have to do it all themselves.

@VivaLaDani13 Thank you! I could have been a better son to my parents as I was growing up! I was a bad teenager in the sense of all the crazy stuff I did. I'm sure it kept my parents awake late at night on many occasions.

@moffittjc I can't imagine you being a bad teenager. If it helps, it's very common for teenagers to act out. And best of all, you grew out of it. Not all teenagers grow out of being bad.

Can I put you in touch with my daughter? You can teach her a few things about how a good daughter looks after her father

You are doing a great job. There is a lot to throw when we finally decide to clean, but it's worth the effort. I am sure your father will be pleased when he comes back home.

@FayeHazel Thank you for your kind comments. And yeah though I am pretty sure my dad is 100% not going to eat junk anymore. Not after everything he is going through right now.

@VivaLaDani13 Aw. Is it complications from diabetes?

@FayeHazel Yeah it is. It all started with him having chills yet a high fever and not feeling well. It was his infected toe that was causing all of this. He has been in hospital for over 20 days and will remain a little bit longer. Which sucks. I want him back home but not until he is 100%.

@Nana49 Thank you very much. And yeah I try to help her whenever I can. It's a bit difficult when I don't have much money myself but I try hard to help her every now and then. Her ex husband rarely pays the proper child support so she gets very little help from him raising their teenage daughter. She often doesn't eat so her daughter can eat.
