A few years ago, on a trip through South Georgia, we stopped in Plains, the hometown of President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn. We took advantage of the opportunity to attend the church which he and his wife attend, and to visit the church for his Sunday School Class. It was interesting and informative. President Carter grew up in a solidly middle class farm home near Plains, about a mile from the Carter homestead. When President Carter was a boy, he walked up the railroad track near their home to sell boiled peanuts, among other things. He was hard working enough that, with his parents' help, he bought rental property in town while he was still in high school. The high school is now a Visitors Center for Plains. I recommend a stop in Plains if any of you ever have the chance.

@JWMILLER This is true, but he did nothing wrong during the time he was President.

I believe he was, though in difficult times. He is seen by some people to have accomplished more after his presidency than back then.

President Carter is someone that I deeply admire. He appears to be a good person and not a self serving mob boss.

That is exactly how I feel about him. I was impressed with his dedication and seriousness in his Sunday School Class.

@JWMILLER Wow. Being with him in his Sunday school class must have been something. Curious me: does he have secret police there? I thought that all presidents had a life time of folks watching out for them but I don't really know.

We went there last April on our way home from Florida, a very interesting stop.
