What a nice surprise

Today Bob was to have a one week follow up appointment after his surgery. He was to see our primary care doctor, in Marion. Everything makes him tired. Eating, showering, you name it. So he got up, had a good breakfast, took a shower and went to take a nap. His urologist called. Not an intern, resident, or nurse, the Doctor. He just wanted to call and see how Bob is doing, and also to let us know the results of the biopsies. They are all good. He said there did not even seem to be much inflammation in the samples from the bladder. The tissue from the prostate was so necrotic (dead) that it could not be identified in the lab.It had been treated when Bob had radiation in 2017. He is very confident that this has been the problem all along. It was large, and dead, and blocking the urinary tract. It was (possibly) getting injured by the catheters and bleeding. Sorry if this is too much medical information. We were very suitably impressed that he took the time to call and check on Bob, and also that he did not want us worrying about the biopsy. Even though we had snow yesterday, the weather was nice today. It was sunny. The birds were singing loudly, like they think Spring may be coming. We at lunch at Subway, as it is right around the corner from the clinic, and we had a gift card. It has been a pretty nice day. The primary care was pleased to hear all of this news and get the report.

That is awesome news. Tony is always tired too, has Bob had his heart checked? Tony hass AFIB and that is why he is tired, his heart.

Bob has AFib. That is what caused his stroke. The fatigue did not start until he began having all the urological problems. We are in the process of switching cardiologists, and he has an appointment in less than a week. The other doc did not care how much he bled, from blood thinners and had not done a sonogram since Bob got his pacemaker. When he sees other doctors, they listen to his heart. He is always in regular rhythm, but he takes a med for that.

Waiting on the results of biopsies is always stressful. So good of your doctor to call.

I am glad the Doctor took the time to call your husband to inform him about the result of biopsy. This is what our doctors always do here, they call personally.

It seems that it is usually the ones from the Veteran's Services that call, although I have had the new local one have her nurse check on him, as well.

@LadyDuck The nurse can call with doctor's orders and ask if he is doing well. They cannot share information to us.

@GardenGerty For privacy reasons only the doctor is allowed to call the patient to report personally.

@GardenGerty When i need to I call my doctor to ask him to call me back if I cannot talk to him right away. He does usually call but there are times I could not wait up so missed the call and did not hear it.
