RANT: My WORLD is CRUMBLING Because...

...of my manager's insecurity. Honestly, I assumed that he is. Since I started working with him, he tends to find flaws in my essay editing. In my part, I edited the essays with good quality. Now, he had sent me a private message through Skype yesterday. Manager: The Korean boss is not going to give any essays to be edited. In fact, we defend that your edited essays were good in quality. The other staff had agreed with this claim. Me: What happened then? Why is the Korean boss doesn't want me to continue? Manager: "Inaabnormal." (He means that the Korean boss is not thinking normally.) Me: It is fine with me if he doesn't want me to continue working with the company. I will just wait for my last payout. Manager: It is fine now. You can have your essays on Monday next week. With this kind of conversation is not acceptable. It seems that professionalism is not there. Thus, I decided not to continue and I got my payment yesterday. In my own perception, it wasn't true that the Korean boss had said this. It was my manager who is fabricating the story. At the back of my mind, he is trying to show that he is the manager. "How can you deal with people who are good in fabricating stories?" "What makes a person insecure?" You did the right thing, it's dangerous to work with people who change their mind every other day.

It has been more than a year that he is doing these things. I am tired of tolerating him. It is not healthy.

@LadyDuck I agree. It is quite difficult to determine which runs in their mind especially if it is virtually.

Best to do as you did..walk away..that is what I used to do also. There is no dealing with ignorance. No good suffering fools.

I felt so insulted with such first message prompt from him. Since day one, he had done so many things that make me feel annoyed. I tend to stay and understand his weirdness. This time, he had reached the maximum tolerance.

@TiarasOceanView Honestly, he is not competent to be the so-called manager. I am sorry to say that he is not good at grammar. He admitted this when we were having an orientation before. It is obvious that he is so insecure about me having a test result of 98% in grammar before working with him. I am humbly saying it, my friend.

The good thing is I didn't sign a contract with this job. If there is, they will surely hold the payment.

So sorry this has happened to you and its not really easy to manage to work with people like that at all. I worked for a guy who had it in for women all day long. Insoportable, he was just impossible to even be with. No woman would put up with what he was saying nowadays he might have even got lynched for saying such things to us. I felt so sorry to leave as its a beautiful historical place but he is a no, no, no. Wishing you much luck in finding somewhere much much better you deserve much better than that.

@Shavkat Leaving somebody like that behind you is so liberating. He is about the only man I could not work for as for women now that was another story.

In fact, I had helped him to find a part-time job and that is working in my online teaching company. This is what he is going to repay me. I felt bad about it. However, I can't stay with this kind of behavior.

I agree. Some of these Korean people have this kind of behavior. By the way, the manager is a Filipino. He is one of the factors that fueled a bad idea to this Korean boss against me.

@Janet357 I am not saying that all Filipinos are like this. I had met a couple of them. It is not good to work with them. Instead of helping each other, they love pulling others down. This manager is a typical example of this.

I know one thing, corporate world seems to bring the worse out in everyone. Sure there is a tiny few that are cool but here every job I ever worked, its just bs. Humanity out the window, fight for your life. We used to teach civics here back in the day, It was not even taught when I went to high school but heard so many teachers complain, you all need a civics lesson. How to be civil. Corporate world is just so off and its not doing anyone any favors how they doing things now. Its not sustainable and could be 5 years 20 years, the lid is going to blow eventually. It does not matter the country, all being taught the same way, make us the most money and screw professionalism and treating people right. Its a hard lesson to learn bud, now you see why I am the way I am, but sure you can overcome it. Why many of us just said screw it, we going our own way because this is not what I had envisioned for myself when I turned 18.

@Shavkat That is what they do now, they pretend to tell us American Dream is still there. We not only do what they say but more than they say and guess what they do. Move Goal posts. I am not trying to discourage you but they all corrupt. Trust your eyes and ears and forget what they pretend to tell you. You will save a lot of time and grief and to me is the worse. Just let me know the rules at least. You keep changing them, I can't do anything.

@crossbones27 One thing for sure, the practice of internal politics are starting to be trendy. It is the old practice of 'nepotism.' I hate this and can never be eliminated. It continued to cheat the people who are deserving to have the job.

I had experienced worse than this before. As you had said, I had learned to deal with them in different approaches. Sometimes it is being immune to being in such a situation. One thing for sure, I tried my best to have two or three jobs at the same time. For the reason that I can able to pull myself out easily and not to feel having no choice. I can't see myself in a situation where I cannot leave the job because of the fear of being jobless. It happened before. Now, I still have an online teaching job and still have the chance of finding a new job online. Hopefully, I can find another one soon.

It is nice that you have a boss like him. It is rare to have him in this world. For me, I am still the boss of my time when teaching online. For this manager of mine is just a part-time job. Thus, I don't need to deal with him anymore.

Indeed, my friend. I do love the job. However, the manager pushes me to stop because of his insensitivity and lack of professionalism.
