IS algerbra really relevant?

It probably is relevant if you are in certain professions. My math teacher always made it sound like we would need algebra and geometry to survive daily life. I have never needed a compass and protractor even once since high school.

Algebra is relevant. It teaches you to think through a problem and use a logical approach to solving problems...not just math problems. We use some algebra when determining the steepness of a road. I think this is very important...especially when roads are built in mountainous regions.
