Snow Much Fun!

It's been a crazy, hectic, fun few days. Thursday morning we picked up our daughter and granddaughter at the airport. We knew it would be a short visit, trying to pack lots of good fun and good memories i to a couple of days is exhausting. Friday afternoon we had Sandra out sledding in our backyard. We have places where the snow (not walked in most of the winter) has several feet of snow. The backyard has a nice slope for sledding and the next door neighbour donated a sled to the purpose. I went down the hill several times before Sandra (6 years old) had had enough.for one day. Yesterday my husband had a turn....he vowed he was not going to sled down the hill. After about half an hour of sledding, Sandra convinced Grandpa that he should try it....he did! What a great day we all had!

It definitely does sound like you guys had some fun for sure. Short visits can still be lots of fun.

We had a wonderful time. Sandra had a blast. We got a lot of hugs and cuddles. Even at the airport this morning she threw herself into our arms for one final hug before they left.

@Morleyhunt That's really sweet. That was a nice goodbye. Or "until next time" hug.

It was fun. We hope that they can come again for a weekend (or maybe longer). Now that they have gone home it is quiet in our house. We miss the nonstop chatter.....but on the otherhand, we are enjoying the relaxation....I guess that's why we have our children when we are young.

We sure had a lot of fun playing in the snow. This isn't the first time I've played with Sandra in the snow. Grandpa is enjoying retirement. It means he can play in the snow with us now.

I'm sure she will talk about this visit for months. We'll see her again in June when we travel to visit the family for a graduation.

How lovely to spend some quality time with your granddaughter. Sledding seems such fun, I've never done it.

When I was a child, I loved sledding. Now that I'm a little older I still enjoy it...but only am up for one or two trips down the hill and then it had better be a smooth run.

It was a sunny day, but very cold. Miss Sandra had three separate sessions of sledding over the few days she was with us.

We had a great time. Today the quiet is both a little sad and also a bit refreshing. We were exhausted by the time they left.

@Morleyhunt I bet you were. You had to cram everything into a short period of time. That can really exhaust a person.

The grandchildren make it easier to let the inner child run free. No one judges when grandma plays in the snow with her grandkids....but imagine what they'd think if she was out their all by herself.

@amitkokiladitya I do enough things that many people find inappropriate for a grandma to do.... I've been known to climb trees....and this summer I might just jump off the bridge into the river.....the teens do it almost daily......every now and again a mom or dad (young) might....but never a grandma!

I wish we lived close enough to do this more often, but we made the decision (financial) that this was the best place for us. We love the area, the lifestyle and our new home. The only downside is the distance from family....and we've made several trips to visit them....and they've also visited us.

@Nana49 six hours wouldn't present an obstacle. I drove the stretch from here to there last March.....it took me 17 hours and 20 minutes of almost nonstop highway (interstate) driving. I stopped to get gas, grab a coffee, or pee. That was it...

@mynameiskate we should see a lot of the snow disappear in the next few days. Warmer (not freezing) temperatures are coming.

It must be so nice to do that in the snow. I love seeing pictures and movies of people frolicking outside and it's snowy. We only have the wet and dry season here that is why, I am so enthusiastic in seeing those activities on the snow.

The snow is both a blessing and a curse. The cold was overwhelming. If you were in the wind and out of the sun it was -15°C, but out of the wind it was reasonably pleasant. We bundled up well.

My inner child I'd there whenever we have a certain kind of snow. It's just hard to give it free reign when there are no children around. Imagine the horror when grandma goes out by herself to build a snowman.

we've actually had a winter w/enoug snow for sledding multiple times this year! it's been great.
