Name combinations - what's in a name?

Hi My Lot, Seeing as I just wrote about "Twilight" movies and my many thoughts about them - I remembered another point I wanted to mention that may point to a new naming trend. **Spoiler for Twilight** Bella and Edward's Vampire/Human hybred child is called "Renesmee". This is a name made up by the author of the series. A combination of the names Renee and Esmee. ** End of Spoiler ** With the immense fandom for these books and movies I'm surprised that there aren't more little Renesmee's running around. That's probably good since I don't think it's a particularly successful name. But what about combining other popular names into one? What can we come up with? Stephanda (Stephanie/Amanda) Tracissa (Tracy/Jessica) Jennica (Jennifer/Jessica) Jessifer (Jessica/Jennifer) Aminie (Amanda/Stephanie) Emmia (Emma/Sophia) Hm. Actually not too bad. Let's try with boy names. Sammas (Thomas/Sam) Griel (Greg/Daniel) Todald (Todd/Donald) Meeve (Matt/Steve) Jabbert (James/Robert) Jomes (Joe/James) Hm, still some alright names in there too. What can you come up with? "Goo-Goo Dolls" - "Name" :
From their 1995 album, A Boy Named Goo.

You may get away with these names in your country. German registrars are very strict. If you come with a name for your child the registrar doesn't know and can't find in his lists, you have to prove that it exists.

Seriously? How do new name come into the mix? And what if it's an existing word, but not a name. Like Gwenyth Paltrow's daughter "Apple".

@FayeHazel I very much doubt that a German registrar would accept 'Apple'. Which is a good thing, I think. How silly to give a child such a name only in order to be original. Would the child's brothers and sisters be called 'Plum' or 'Pear'?

@MALUSE True, as much as I like originality choosing words for names just seems like a punishment for the child (could you imagine the teasing) and.... well, sort of seems like being original for the sake of being original. lol. Banana or Orange!

Some of those names you came up with sound Biblical and/or Alien. The next time I write a book about Aliens and/or Bible FanFiction, I'm coming to you for names.

When I am bored I sometimes try making up hybrid names of things as well as people. Not particularly good at it!

Haha Sammas. That's basically Samus from Nintendo's Metroid. XD (sort of, depends how you pronounce the name) This name thing looks fun! You thought of a lot. Allison/Elizabeth - Allibeth I find it easier to type the names out then decide what to do with it xD Ahh
