Should Senior Cannabis Users Be Required To Lock Up their Edibles?

Lock it up?

I just finished reading an article in the Los Angeles Times that details how more seniors are opting for using cannabis to control the pain caused by their ailments. See the link at the bottom of the article. Now folks, I'm not against the use of marijuana and cannabis edibles for control of pain. I know that it can really help. But in the last few sentences of the above article, a pleasant little old man makes reference to a chocolate bar infused with cannabis that he "secures" away from his grand kids by placing it up on a shelf. I can tell you that when I was a kid, I got into everything, even waiting until I could explore alone, like late at night or very early in the morning before anyone got up. A chair and a ruler often scored me Pepperidge Farms cookies that were "secured" in a cabinet high above the refrigerator. Kids will find a way, especially if they think they are going to be rewarded with sweets. So it's my opinion that seniors and others who are allowed to buy cannabis infused edibles, and even just cannabis for smoking - that they be required similar to those in rehabilitation for opiod habit - that they lock up their "medications" in a lockable box. This box should also be secured in their home, far away from prying fingers. It would save countless trips to the emergency room for children who don't know any better. What do you think?
Most states have legal medical marijuana; 10 allow recreational pot. Studies show people 65 and over are the fastest-growing segment of cannabis users.

I don't see the need to actually lock it up, just keep it in a safe place, like you would do any other medicine.

Yes they should keep it as safe as medications. Not difficult.
