The Golden Era of the Content Mill

There really aren't any more decent fun content sites and it seems there demise came as an expected quick and sudden blow. Like dominos they bit the dust as Google changed the rules and people will be people and started to take advantage and cheat. I was a member of some of the earlier ones that were fun and profitable. There are still a few around like Info Barrel and others but for the most part their past glory and potential is not there any more. Some you can still even get commission getting viewers to buy on Amazon, etc. I do miss the fun of writing on these old sites and truly wish there would be a site that would bring back the old excitement some of those great sites had. I'm glad myLot has maintained it's high standard and consistency all these years. Great going myLot.

I was writing at Virily but the pay is so low and I don`t have time to work the site to get the points, so I stopped

Yes I had my doubts about that one and saw that many writers had stopped writing there. It's a lot of work at some of these sites and it has to be somewhat worth it.

The only site I've written for was Bubblews and we know what happened to them. I did try my hand at Helium many years ago before I started blogging, but nothing ever came of it. I certainly didn't earn anything from it. I'm glad myLot is here to help all of us earn a little bit.

@MarymargII Helium was okay, though I never earned anything with them.

@just4him No me neither--- but it was a great learning base for me as per their writing rules and their merit or marking system as well as their contests etc.

Yes those earlier sites were fun and I was at Bubblews as well and Helium kind of taught me to know how to navigate through these sites and what was expected so I do owe something to them. I miss the writing challenges, contests and assignments on Helium though.

@hereandthere I wasn't sure if hubpages is still out there. So many have just collapsed a few months after folks joined. I always wanted to join hubpages but never got round to it.

It's dependable, steady and has good standards--- good qualities for a writing site.

MyLot is the only site I'm on and love it here. I'm unaware of those other sites.

They were sites where you can write on many subjects and they had editors checking grammar, etc. Some even had Creative Writing possibilities so you could really stretch your creativity and talent and earned money from views, etc. I was on several and found it challenging and a fabulous learning experience.

@DianneN Could even use another great site on the lines of this one-- That would add a few different features perhaps.
