How Do You Measure Success?

Flooring for my sewing room.

The forecast for today was rain. There is nothing we can do outside if it rains. We need to make a trip to the city to look for flooring. The local options for flooring had been inspected, and, while we could find flooring that we liked....we didn't care for the price. If we liked the price....it didn't come in a colour we wanted. This morning we headed to the city 45 minutes away. Our first stop was Home Depot. They had a great selection. Two of the flooring options were in the price range we were hoping for. One was in the colour we wanted (or were willing to settle for) and one had a very dark finish (not at all what we had in mind). We counted the boxes....they were two boxes short. The sales person quickly checked....two hours farther down the road they had enough....so that would add four hours....or we could head home and 45 minutes in the other direction. Nice idea....but bridge toll would add $50 to our costs. I had discovered a family business when researching flooring about five minutes from Home Depot. Let's see what they have. They had at least three styles that fell within our price range.....all in a colour we would be happy with. Success meant....the colour I really wanted.....the style both hubby and I liked....and even better....enough below budget we could go out for lunch. We are very happy shoppers.

Thank you. I'm getting more and more excited as I see the progress we have made in our basement renovations. My sewing room will be useable in another few short weeks.

We need to finish sanding the drywall...then paint...then floor. One step at a time. The laundry room will be finished first...then the sewing room.... The family room will be next. Ceilings might not actually be done until next winter. That shouldn't interfere too much with things.

Well done, sometimes you find what you search in smaller stores, you pay less and you get what you want.

The floor is going to make me very happy. Some time tomorrow I will paint the room and then we'll be ready for the floor.

The floor could go down this coming week. The laundry room is ready for its floor first. Hubby wants it done before I need to do laundry again.

@Morleyhunt the flooring gap is now less than an inch. It is scheduled to be finished (professionally) when I'm out of town.

That is the kind of shopping that drives me crazy. Never everything in one spot I'm glad you found what you wanted at a great price! Good luck with the installation!

I'm not an enthusiastic shopper. This was our first foray into the city. (Moncton, is not a big city) for shopping in almost a year. I knew that with the amount of flooring we needed, this was our best option.

It was an awesome feeling. I'm hoping that hubby gets to the sewing room flooring later this week. First the laundry room!
