Knocking sound

May 26, 2006 2:49pm CST
When (hard or soft) braking a knocking sound from the right rear wheel happens every now and then. I have checked the brakes and hardware they are in good working condition.

Hi SouthBeach, Had I been part of this discussion five years ago I would have advised you get your automobile checked by a mechanic, as I would not have advised that you take a chance and experimented as if you are not a mechanic you would be jeopardizing the cars functioning mechanism. I do hope you did get this resolved. Be well.

Did you check to see if the rear exhaust mounting is ok? This can sometimes knock around - sounding as if it is the rear wheel.

Might be an issue with your brake pads. When the pads start to get worn, they make noises

Might be a bearing or could even be an axle problem. Might just be a stone in the wheel. Might want to have a mechanic take it for a ride.

There are 2 possibilities, check your brakelining or you transmission (including transmission support).
