This story is amazing in that Gabe Castellanos who was celebrating his birthday in New York City will remember this birthday for his act of jumping into the East River to save a two year old female dog named Harper. Harper for some reason that is not clear, managed to jump into the East River. While she was struggling to stay afloat above the water, Gabe jumped into the river in an attempt to rescue the dog. Harper must have been nervous seeing Gabe attempting to rescue her since she bit him in his hand and face. Despite Gabe bleeding from his face, Gabe was able to wrap up Harper and swim her back to shore when she was reunited with her owner Erin O'Donnell who appreciated what Gabe did to save her dog from drowning.

That is great that the dog was rescued but what I want to know is why did the dog jump in there in the first place? Could it be that someone threw the dog in?

That is a good question on how the dog went into the river. She could have been pushed into the river or she could have fallen in by accident.

Humanity would be better off rescuing dogs that fall into a river instead of thinking about themselves.

Did someone throw the dog in the river? It is a good thing that it was being rescued so soon.

How the dog wound up in the river is not clear at this time. I think that maybe she was either pushed into the river or she fell in by accident.

I know what you mean about Harper deciding to take a swimming lesson in the river.

That I what I like about Gabe. He decided to rescue a dog instead of ignoring the near tragic event so he could celebrate his birthday.

Yes, many of us would do this to save animals.
