I do 1000%!.. ya know.. people preach all year long. save the trees! save the trees! but then go out and get a live tree to decorate inside their home for 2 weeks and then toss it! ugh .. i think its disgusting.. i grew up with real trees and understand why its "nice" to have a real one.. but my goodness.. i mean we actually have farms to "harvest" trees and we lose 100s of thousands of acres of wooded areas to deforestation and wildfires! think about it.. isnt it actually easier to have afake one anyways?? theyre cleaner, safer, more cost efficient, and tend to be lighter(in case of tipping with small children around),. i mean what else is there? scent?? buy an air freshener!! save our resources!!! geez! i know some families that at least use the wood after in the fireplace.. but how many jsut throw it out on the street "hoping" the garbage truck will take it! stop the madness.. we dont have "plenty of trees" anymore!

I agree. Fake all the way. Especially with the lights already on them. Man I'm lazy.

what will happen when theyre gone? - im only 8 years old!
thank you so much for your response!!! this issue is important to me and i wish more people wouldnt take our trees for granted for cosmetic purposes for a couple weeks!.. i think some wont realize how much we need them till theres not enough left! i mean an average sized xmas tree takes about 8 years to grow! 8 YEARS for 2 weeks!! geez..

thought of something else here. do you know that they're making alot of fake trees fire resistant now?? there are sooo many fires every year from real trees drying out with all the lights and decorations and electrical probs and extention cords.. JUST ONE MORE REASON TO BUY A FAKE ONE!! SAFETY!

but plastics are also harmful for the environment. there has to be some other alternative to this.

That really will not help on a large scale. Im afraid it sounds like a typical case of wanting peace of mind, by thinking that you are actually making a difference when you are not. It is in the interest of the industry to re-grow ther christmas trees so they can sell them next year, its called a managed forest, and if it were not for the companies farming the trees they would all be chopped down and the land would be used for something else.

I agree to a point, but studies show the environmental benefit only works if you were going to use the same tree for a lot of years, if you think you might change the tree after just a few years it hasnt helped at all. Even better is to use alternative decorations, maybe a bare branch hung up and decorated, or a tree in a pot that can go outside after the festivities, its not compulsory to have a tree at all of course!

Sorry, but I have my real tree every year. It's a tradition that my family has where we go pick out the tree and cut it down. Like you said, there are tree farms for this purpose. Maybe we should think about planting new trees where the old ones were burnt down. Take care!

They replace the trees they cut down. It's not like were harming the envorioment. Plus, air fresheners hurt the envirioment. They destroy the ozone layer, which CAN'T be repaired.

I love a real Christmas tree, it does so much more than some plastic imitation. Trees are grown especially for this purpose, I have no qualms about using them. there should be more of it, at Christmas, plasic is as plastic does.

YES YES YES i agree with you. Why we should cut mant trees if its only use for a while or temporary? why we not make our land being green than cutting trees? I believe the meaning of christmas cant be disappear because of we dont use the real tree, right?

I agree whole heartedly, kitty. I grew up with real trees for Xmas and they are very nice, but they're messy with all the pine needles on carpet and if you don't keep watered then you have a fire hazard. A fake one to me is a lot safer and easier.
