A month ago I purchased a dog DNA test kit online. It was "Affirm Dog DNA Test Kit", which cost me only $14.99. I thought it might be a scam, but once I applied online as per the instructions, I was instructed on how to use the kit, and soon sent in my samples. My dog was a little confused why I was rubbing his inner cheeks with a cotton swab, but she let me do it and I sent off the samples. Cut to 3 weeks later. I truly expected to have my result in two weeks or so, but it's taken 3 weeks for the results to finally show up in my inbox. I have to say, I'm completely floored. I thought my dog was a pit bull mixed with something else, but it turns out she has no pit in her. She's a mix of African and Spanish hunting dogs, a French Bulldog, a Whippet and a Chihuahua. Along with her genetics they included characteristics of each dog type, sicknesses, and genetic abnormalities of all of them. I can truly say that I know my dog better than I have ever known any animal that I have ever owned. On top of that, they sent a printable certificate that can be used when I move into a new rental to prove that she's not a dangerous dog. As a result, I am much more trusting of my dog, I can see the genetics in her, and I really understand why she acts the way she does. Have you done a genetic test, which one, and how do you feel now?

@Allyouneedislove I can imagine what your dog was thinking you were doing. When I ex brought our dog home the owner told him what she was. Did you show it to your dog so she may understand why you did what you did to her. No, I never did that.

No I have not done a DNA. I have two cats I rescued. Good for you in finding out about your dog.
