Do I need a sleeping bag?

Is it a good idea to have a sleeping bag? I've wanted to buy a sleeping bag for a long time considering that I often travel by ship during the night. The first time I saw some advertised, the price was still high. That made me postponed the purchase. Now I noticed the price is much down almost 50% off. I know sleeping bags are suitable for camping but they are also suitable for those traveling by ship. Ships provide sleeping compartments with additional charge. Often time the provided beds are fully occupied. So, I didn't get the bed, I had to find other spaces usually on the corner. Without using a sleeping bag, it is not comfortable and dirty as passengers walk on it. Do you think a sleeping bag is worh buying?

You only know if you can use it, if it's easy to open and fold when you have to get out and so on.

@yanzalong If it solves your problem and you can sleep better on the ship, buy it.

If it is demanded by your travel then please go for it. It is good catch up the left over sleep while travelling.

If you go on a lot of outdoor trips like hiking or mountain climbing, a sleeping bag would be handy. I recently got a tent for sleeping purposes, but sleeping bags are much more compact when it comes to the space they'll end up using, and are easier to "set up" too. :D

I travel once a week. Some ship only provide chairs. The trip takes at least 3 hours. I should lie down to rest and sleep.

@yanzalong What type are you looking at? I had an experience with down feather sleeping bags and it worked okay. It was just a bit heavy though. In your case I think the sleeping bag would indeed be worth it. :)

Buy one! I remember a night on a ferry in Italy when my husband and I couldn't get a cabin. We had sleeping bags with us and slept on deck. You can always use it also for guests who visit you and stay over night.

@yanzalong You're welcome. What is also worth buying and can't be very expensive is a mat you put on the ground under your sleeping bag. I'm adding a link to the American site of amazon. You can buy such mats in shops selling articles for sports.

i agree with the others to buy them since it has many uses and while it's on sale. just make sure to inspect it thoroughly for any holes, tears, missing pieces, etc.

If you travel by ship often enough to make it worthwhile then why not?

I had a sleeping bag before but my cousin borrowed it and never returned it. I plan to buy again a sleeping bag. I remember my sleeping bag is very lightweight and does not take a lot of space in the bag. I like it because it comes handy and useful

Since the price is reduced by 50% it seems like it would be a good idea
