Another fresh in my backyard. Gooseberry. We call it karamay. Its yellow in color when the fruit is ripe, when at early stage the fruit is green. It taste sour when green and when ripen it is sweet and sour. Its good to consume with the vinegar to suppress the sourness. Even better when you pickle them for a few days. This is harvested last week of June, the last of it this season. My kids love to munch them. I planted few trees of gooseberry in the backyard but found out most of them are males or don't bear fruit. Its good some are females. I hope you already tasted this fruit.

We call it layuan here in Bicol . my mother used to make t into like kiamoy and it is so delicious. we also put it raw in a bowl , put some salt and cover it with a platter and shake it. After that, you can eat it and it's delicious.

@ilocosboy That way the gooseberry gets soft and penetrated with salt. The sourness and the saltiness blends and it become delicious. I salivate at the thought of it.
