The horse racing track

Today I spent a couple of hours at the horse racing track. As I have mentioned before I am not into gambling, and I only bet small amounts (less than $10 in a day) Today I won 2 out of 3 races. Since I only bet small amounts I only win small amounts, but I had enough money for two sodas I visit the horse racing track because my father used to work there and I have many happy memories from the place. Sometimes I just watch the races without betting money at all, but many of the other visitors bet huge amounts of money, and they study the horses, the statistics etc much more carefully than I do. I think it is very risky to bet large amounts, there are so many factors that affect the results, and sometimes the best horses lose. What about you? Would you bet large amounts of money on horse racing?

I think that small amounts are fine. I like to watch the horse races sometimes. If I win I spend the money on a cup of coffee or something like that.

@Porcospino When my husband and I visited Las Vergas, we set aside a certain (small) sum of money with which we went to a casino to gamble. It would be silly not to make the experience. We lost it all but we didn't regret it.

@MALUSE I would do the same if I ever visit Las Vegas. It will just be a small amount. I don't expect to get rich I just want the experience.

I would bet large amount of money on nothing, not the horses, nor the dogs or the roulette.

That sounds like me. I never bet large amounts of money. I find it much too risky. My husband once played online roulette, but he didn't win anything at all, and he doesn't use those sites anymore.

@Porcospino I think that the online sites are cheaters, you cannot win.

@Porcospino Some people even want to sell books to teach "how to win at the roulette". I lived 31 years in Monte Carlo, sooner or later you lose what you won.

That is the reason why I don't bet large amounts. I mostly visit the place because I like the looking at the horses.

I like to visit the horse racing track sometimes. My father worked there for a while and in my childhood I visited the place very often.

@rakski We still have the original horse track. It is from 1935, but the old buildings (restaurants etc) aren't there anymore.

I agree. I don't want to bet a large amount of money. I would be afraid of losing the money.
