Ridiculously Unbelievable

Earlier, I was watching an old forensics/law enforcement type show, and in it , they talked about a little girl (of 3) that was attacked after going to a park. (Evidently her mother let her go ALONE.) My 1st thought when I heard that, was what kind of parent lets a THREE year old (or any very young child for that matter) go to a park unsupervised? The girl survived, and her attacker was caught, thankfully. As for the mother though, I think the mother should have been brought up on charges of child endangerment, at the very least.

The way things are these days I wont even let my 12 year old grandson to stay home by himself for a short time. I know that sounds over protective but people these days are nuts.

I can understand, and totally agree w/you. I'd rather be "over protective" w/my son than to have some nutjob do something to him b/c I wasn't vigilant enough. I know a child has to grow up, but we who are adults need to take our responsibility to them seriously. We need to teach them how the world is, and prepare them to live and thrive in it, and how to protect themselves from harm.

Parents are so inattentive and in their phones these days, this doesn't surprise me, unfortunately.

As I mentioned, the show I was watching was old, the crime happened back in like 1992. I suppose I should have mentioned that, digital devices/phones have only become a problem in the last 20 years or so.
