When a co worker tells you off infront of clients/customer/patients?

Nursing can be nerve-wracking. I've been nerve-wracked for close to 20 years now. But nothing is worse than being reprimanded , criticised or insulted by a co-worker whom you expect to have your back, protect you, and guide you. My colleague this afternoon tried to perform blood extraction on an escorted prisoner but struggled so bad because the patient's veins were not only too small, but he was so dehydrated too. Meaning, the vein wasn't plump enough. Out of nowhere, this other nurse came hovering about, looked over the nurse's shoulder and commented, "That is unacceptable". I understand the workplace can get really busy, tensed and stressful but there's no excuse for being a (sorry) d**che. But, if you do notice a colleague doing something wrong and you are compelled to correct them, do you do it infront of the customer? or do you wait till after? Would you pull her aside and talk it out? Will you leave it? I admit it's also hard on the part of someone who notices the error.

@Theresaaiza There are people that do not think and there are those that are superior. I had this customer once tell me I had to give her a certain price or she would report me. She would report me to the place where I sold. I also had someone complain about prices. If I could not charge more I would have been out of buisness. I cannot charge what they charge at the stores. Then I cannot remember it was he told me not to give people discounts. I thought that was funny. He tells he off and then maybe realizes I was a small business person and do not get a salary like he does and have to depend on what I make.

Sorry to hear you're having a difficult time with people at work. Some people just can't help being rude.

That would feel like a sense of betrayal.

More like annoying. Cause she was never friendly and supportive in the first place. She leaves everyone feeling dumb about themselves

This differs from person to person. Some will surely come and help you out if you are trouble/struggling with something and then discuss where you went wrong with that case. But some will try to be bossy for no reason and just pass by Why didn't you say this..." are you expecting salary increment this month "

She does come off as a bit bossy when things start getting hectic. It's one thing to be firm and assertive but don't be an arrogant b*tch

Everything thing has a proper timing. And we all should respect the work of our coworkers.

I agree. If you notice a mistake though, what would you do?

That's simply not an acceptable way for a co worker to behave. It should be done in private. He/ she could have offered to help in a polite way rather than pointing at her fault.

I typically would try to guide or give suggestions or if its beyond our capacity, refer to or consult with a higher ranking staff/mentor. The way she said it, made the other nurse feel really incompetent and uncomfortable
