Losing Weight With Keto

United States

I'm thinking about losing weight, but, I'm not sure which direction to go, especially being someone who has high blood pressure and high cholesterol. If anyone has a healthier alternative, I'd love to know. I keep saying I'm going to start everyday, but I'm not sure the correct route to follow.

Thank you, but if you can't cut fast food all together, can you at least enjoy fast food once a week but don't overdo it?

I heard about keto, but this diet raises a lot of suspicion. Not sure how much it healthy, as it consists mostly of fat. For person with high cholesterol I wouldn't prefer Keto diet. Why not just increase intake of fresh legumes, veggies, salads and cut out your sugar intake and all that snack kind of food.

Keto does work but the high fat may not be good for your cholesterol. I would suggest cutting back on carbs and exercising. A daily walk will do good.

I think Keto is a good way to go, or even just low carb.....people say it is too much protein....but Keto is moderate protein.

You obviously aren't ready yet or you would be doing something about it NOW! The success of a diet plan is someone losing the weight and keeping it off for 5 years or more and Keto isn't in that category! My suggestions: 1) Keep a food chart of EVERYTHING you are eating keeping count of the calorie intake 2) Join a group like Weight Watchers 3) Follow the basic diabetes diet 4) Go right now to sparkpeople.com and read all you can! 5) "but if you can't cut fast food all together," start saying WON'T instead of can't! I lost 100+ pounds over 40 years ago and have fought to keep it off--I know about the dieting world inside and out--was in the field for 12 years--losing the weight is the easiest part--keeping it off is the work!

Last year I lost 35 pounds on Weight Watchers. Eat everything just less really. And exercise. Keto is too much protein and can damage kidneys. And it's high fat. Out bodies need carbohydrates and all the nutrients in fruits and vegetables.

I follow a high protein, low-carb diet for two months now; and it made me feel good and lose weight. I feel lighter and sleep so well; also normal BP and low triglycerides though I eat meat with fats.Just research about it first.

I do carnivore keto and I have lost a lot of weight and feel more energetic and stronger. We need cholesterol for building new cells. Our brain is mostly fat. We need fat for energy. What we do not need is grains and other carbs. If you eat veggies, make sure they are cooked to kill the lectins which cause inflammation.
