Update on the dating website

Update on the dating website I should have stayed away from the dating website, but oh no, I joined up and within a few minutes I had some messages. They seemed to be ok and from where I live apart from home that was in Wales After several messages to 4 ladies, all 4 asked for my number to which I didn’t give. The reason being only after a few messages then asking for someone number just didn’t sit well with me. I went back onto the website this afternoon all 4 ladies, if they were ladies had gone, no sign of and messages from them, like if they hadn’t sent anything. I guess they were fake profiles trying to see what they come to get. I don’t think I will be going back in there, I guess it was just an idea but no, not for me and I shouldn’t have gone on in the first place, lesson learned.

I was reading on another forum about dating websites and how the men seem to be exposed to a lot of fake accounts of women asking for money. It depends on where you are of course. I think those closer to the bigger cities get the most fake profiles. As for not giving your number right away, I can not say as I blame you. I have had so many different types of unsavory messages come my way when I give my number too quickly.

@kevin1877uk I've heard a lot of those profiles are probably coming out of China. I am not sure how true that is.

Most of those who join are fake profile, marketers who want your telephone number to sell you something. Well done not to give your phone number.

It is sad. I used to get on chat rooms when I was younger. And a few years ago I decided to get on chat rooms just to see what they are like now. It was sad and terrible. Alot of pervs and one actually thought I was 14 and thought I was lying saying I was older. I reported him.

I met my husband through a dating newspaper. It had a way of having a blind mailbox that felt safe. It worked out. Not sure about an online experience. I do not think I will ever be dating again, though.

It's a shame it didn't work out. Are there clubs you could join where you share similar interests and might meet someone?

I've looked into those but the ones I did like met when I'm working, maybe a change in jobs or places/cities might be a good idea.

If I were you I'd give them fake numbers, maybe a mental hospital number is good.

I believe you did the right thing. You could never be too careful online these days. Too many scammers take advantage of people's vulnerabilities.
