#20Resolutions Update - The List Gets Shorter, but Time Gets Shorter Still

Hello folks, I thought I'd pop back in with another update. I'm pretty sure I thought I was going to do these once every week or two, but it's been two months since my last one. Fortunately, that means I've made more than my usual amount of progress. Unfortunately, it also means I have less time to finish! As a quick reminder, I had 17 of the 20 categories remaining, having successfully completed two goals and getting DQ'd from the third. Here's a look: 1. 7 books read 2. 1 pounds lost 3. 9 items culled from my wardrobe 4. 8 sketchbook drawings 5. 4 blog posts written 6. 1 art project completed 7. 9 scarves knitted 8. 11 letters written 9. 12 web articles written 10. 2 Etsy listings made 11. 0 eBay listings made 12. 13 charitable contributions made 13. 4 items removed from garage 14. 19 new friends made 15. 13 new places visited 16. 2 poems written 17. 4 beautiful photos taken I usually start with the worst stuff, so I'll just get it out of the way quickly - I'm terrible at losing weight, so I lost my one-pound progress and even gained a few pounds. This is the only category in which progress can be lost! In other sad news, I still haven't made any eBay listings, and my number of sketches remains at 8. The saddest part is that this happens to be "Inktober", an annual drawing challenge in which artists are supposed to produce a new ink drawing every day. My friends are drawing their butts off, and I'm stuck in the mud. Lame, I know. Okay, let me dust off my hands and start the buildup...I have made small improvements in 12 categories: I have completed another art project (portrait commission, pictured--in my defense, that took up all the time I would have spent on sketches. And I got paid!), made another Etsy listing, written another poem (my last post, "Poem for the Moon"), and taken another beautiful photo. I have written two more blog posts, finished knitting another hat and another scarf, made two more charitable donations, and gotten two more things out of the garage. I have knocked back three more books, ditched three items from my wardrobe, written three more web articles, and visited FIVE new places. Hotcha! Last month, I was at 19 new friends and figured I might close out that category. Well, I did. 20 friends and counting! But wait, there's more: I made a huge push on letters to friends and family, and wrote nine letters over the past couple of months, bringing my total to 20 and closing out that category, as well. So, is it time to rest and pat myself on the back? heck NO! As of today, there are only ten weeks remaining in the whole year! I still have 15 entire categories to complete, and I've got my work cut out for me. Here's how it stands, now: 1. 10 books read 2. 0 pounds lost 3. 12 items culled from my wardrobe 4. 8 sketchbook drawings 5. 6 blog posts written 6. 2 art projects finished 7. 11 scarves knitted 8. 20 letters written - CATEGORY COMPLETED 9. 15 web articles written 10. 3 Etsy listings made 11. 0 eBay listings made 12. 15 charitable contributions made 13. 6 items removed from garage 14. 20 new friends made - CATEGORY COMPLETED 15. 18 new places visited 16. 3 poems written 17. 5 beautiful photos taken So in 10 weeks, I have to read 10 more books, cull 8 more wardrobe items to donate, fill 12 more pages in my sketchbook, write 14 more blog posts, finish 18 more art projects, knit 9 more hats and scarves, write 5 more web articles, make 17 more Etsy listings, make 20 eBay listings, make 5 more charitable donations, get 14 more things out of my garage, visit two more new places, write 17 new poems, take 15 more beautiful photos, and lose 20 pounds. Sigh. That's 186 things in 10 weeks--an average of 18.6 things a week. Eh, I'll give it a try! Here's an article, anyway :)

First of all, it's nice to see you here. We missed you. Making any progress at all on your lists is a great accomplishment. You set goals and are working toward them. Kudos to you. Hugs.

Thanks very much to you and your ongoing support! I think that if I finish at least half of them, it will be an achievement of some kind!

@LindaOHio - I think a lot of people also set their sights too high, so their goals are overwhelming. With these, I figure even if I don't do the whole 20, I've still done something. I've gone several years without reading more than 2-3 books, and this year, I've pushed myself to finish 10, so far!

@AliCanary Definitely. There are those with wimpy goals that never accomplish anything. You have made solid progress on yours...and you had so many!

You really set yourself some big tasks here. I think you've done wonderfully well to have achieved as much as you have. I'd pat you on the back myself if I were closer.

You have achieved quite much. If you keep the momentum and make a point to complete the incomplete ones you will be there. I was inspired to see your success.
