She heard me...but I wasn't there

This happened several years ago. I lived in an apartment at that time. My neighbor and I were friends and we both lived on the top floor. There weren't other apartments on the top floor. The walls between our apartments were very thin, and if someone was talking in the other apartment we were able to hear it. One day I came back from school, and when I was about to unlock my door my neighbor opened her door. She looked shocked and she said: ”But...but I thought you were already home. I heard you. You were walking around in your apartment and you were talking, I thought you were talking on the phone” I told her that it was impossible, I had just arrived from school, but she kept on saying that she heard me in my apartment. I got nervous when she said that. I thought that someone had broken into my apartment when I wasn't there, and she heard the person's footsteps, but it didn't make sense. She was sure that she had heard my voice, and the door was still locked. There was no balcony and it would be dangerous to climb through a window. I didn't really believe that anyone would do that. I unlocked the door and opened it while my friend and I stayed outside. We didn't hear anything at all, and we went inside. No one was there and nothing had been touched inside. I was relieved, but we never found out what my friend heard that day. She was sure that the sounds came from my apartment, and not from our downstairs neighbors. Actually we never heard the downstairs neighbors at all, and there were no upstairs neighbors since we lived on the top floor.

That is what my friend said too. She was sure that she heard me, but I wasn't there.

@evans777 I also believe in ghosts. I have never seen one, but my husband has. It happened in the house where we lived before. My husband saw a ghost in our bedroom one night. I wasn't in the bedroom when it happened, but he told me about it.

Have you ever heard the term Audioclarent? I can not find the word anymore, but I had looked it up before. I've experienced things similar to your friend. It mostly happens when a person is not quite awake. They are waking, but they aren't there yet. It could be the sound of a dog barking that wakes you up yet there is no dog around to have made that noise. You could think you hear someone calling your name. Let me give you an example. I was taking a nap one day a few years ago. I startled awake because I heard a family member, clear as day say "Something's wrong." I got up and looked into the person's bedroom but they were asleep. I used the facilities and when I went to check them again they were awake. I told them what I had heard, and they said they heard something similar, but in a female voice that they didn't recognize. I can't recall what it was that they had heard. We both heard it within a minute of each other. This has also happened to me when I am awake but zoned out. Perhaps this is what happened to your neighbor.

That is interesting. I haven't heard that word before. I think it is possible that my neighbor experienced that. As far as I know it only happened once during the time we lived there. She was so sure that she heard me, and she was shocked when she saw me outside the door. I haven't experienced something like that when I was waking up, but I have sometimes "heard" things when I was falling sleep (fragmented sentences) I decided to look it up, and I think the thing I experienced is called hypnagogic hallucinations.

@Porcospino I looked up the definition as well as I had never heard of that before. I am not sure if I've ever experienced that. Clairaudience or Clairaudient might have been the word I was looking for before. I swear I had read it as Audioclarent before. I read a definition of it and it essentially means hearing or perceiving something without the aid of the physical ear. Like hearing it within your mind, and it's supposed to be a bridge between the spiritual world.

Interesting story. Maybe she was so used to hearing you that she thought she heard you even when you were not there.

That is possible. I used to walk around while I was talking on my cell phone, and we were able to hear conversations and other sounds from the other apartment. She must have heard me many times.
