farewell, dear friend

November 28, 2019 12:57am CST
This morning saw me say goodbye to the dearest of friends, an old boi off on his jollies, going to Who Knows Where, to enjoy his latter-days of retirement. I will not weep for him. I will not miss him. He was steady, companionable, an ever-present entity who often gurgled contentedly as he went about his daily chores. But he was old, occasionally grouchy, and could be decidedly temperamental when not in the right frame of mind. Warm, but not cuddly. Mostly dependable, but certainly lacking in efficiency. He is being replaced with a newer model. Younger {just a baby really}. More handsome. More efficient. Connected to a Hive; hey, Alexa! Turn the heating up! Yet still not cuddly. Goodbye, kind sir. You have served us well. Now, go! Enjoy your retirement in Old Boiler Land!

partin' 'tis such a mix 'f feelin's, eh? 'tis good though to find a new, more efficient heater. i'll be needin' to do that soon myself, though've fingers crossed not fer 'nother couple 'f years. spendy lil suckers. 'njoy yer freedom from goin' to toy with the thermostat. i reckon that alexa gal can come quite handy :)

@crazyhorseladycx Magical apps mean we can turn our heating and water on, off, up, down, wherever we be in the whole wide world. It's like living in a Harry Potter book!

Alexa is rubbish. We're just going to use the apps on our phones!

@Poppylicious it's okay. It's good that you'll have a new boiler. It's time to say goodbye then to your old boiler.
