A Typhoon Hit Us

Last Dec. 2 evening, we were hit by typhoon Kimmura which was named Tisoy when it entered Philippines. We weren't actually the one targeted but it was so strong when it passed by amd stayed for more than 4 hours that it destroyed a lot of trees and electric posts. So much so, that until now our province has no electricity yet. Most of the residences and businesss establishments are.on generators . You can just imagine the noise of all those generators make. The malls as their help to the provinces offered free charging of their gadgets at designated areas of the malls. You can see a lot of teenagers huddles together at designated parts of the mall to charge their gadgets. They bring with them their own extension wires. After office , we rush to go home because other parts of the province are dark because there's no electricity still. We are hoping to have the electricity before Christmas as promised by the electric companies.

@SIMPLYD I hope so. It’s so frustrating when things like that create such havoc and upheaval. We all feel comfortable with routine and normalcy in our lives.

Yes , that is true. Typhoons are frequent here in the Philippines and thry are about 20 plus in all in a year. It has been years our province was badly hit by a typhoon. No mattet how prepared you are for a typhoon, it would always still make havoc- topple and cut the plants and trees.

I do feel for you. The storm is lashing but the aftermath is punishing. Keep your head up and try to go about the cleaning as calmly as you can. No other option really but to do it gradually.

Yes, that's actually what we have done. In addition, there's no water from the faucets. Good thing we have the jetmatic water pump where oir helper and husband would get water to fill those big canisters in the 2nd and first flr. bathroom as well as for the kitchen.

Yes, it is the least that they can do to help the people charge their phones and gadgets to get connected with their loved ones. We bought a new generator for the house because our old one is irreparable already from not being used for how many years. Even at our hometown my sisters bought a new generator so our bedridden mother will not feel the hot climate.

Yes, it is so difficult when there is no normal electricity. We.may have a generator at home, but it is so noisy so at 10 in the evening it is switched off . So, when we sleep we are not so cpmfortable since it is hot with no electric fans.

We were not the target of landfall , but being on its tailend would mean a contonuous wind for hours. So that is why damages specially the electrical posts are a plenty.

Normal.power was restored innour place in Daraga last Saturday. At our hometown, it was restored last night. In the subdivision where we.live in Daraga, we are the only line of electricy who has electricity. The other streets beside our street don't have yet. That's because in our electricity lines in just outside our secluded place is the Police Station, Bureau of Fire and motorpool . They have to have normal.power at once.

We have to take a bath and shampoo our hair in the evening . That way, we can have our hair dried through the electric fan while the generator is running.

Wow glad you all OK and seem to have it covered. It does suck when Nature shows who is boss in this technological world. I always say take the time to remember what is important because all of our technology could be wiped out at any moment. Why it really is not good to get so dependent on such things unless you have a back up plan.

You are so right. Because of our dependency on the internet and other gadgets we find it so difficult to cope when there is no electricity. There are generators for the houses, but the noise pollution is so much to the ears.

Well, we can cope up with it because at 6pm the generator at the house is operational until 10 pm. While it is on all the rechargeable lights, rechargeable electric fans and gadgets were being charged. At 10pm we go to sleep when it is already switched off.
