How is everyone doing during this time?

I haven't went through my friend's discussions, but I am sure that 99.9% is about the conoravirus and this is no exception. This is how it has effected my family. As many of you know, my husband had many health issues that started around thanksgiving with kidney stones (that took a month to correct) followed by a quadruple bypass surgery in January. So that left my income that helped pay the bills...until last Friday. Our Governor closed the schools (I work in a school) for 3 weeks, leaving me without an income and by now my husband has finally got the energy to go back to work, except because of his condition, he really needs to stay away from people. This leaves me with 3 weeks of free time. Those who have known me for years, probably knows what my plans are. I am finally going to work on my novel (s) and prepare them for pitmad (for those who don't know, pitmad is a twitter event where author's post a short pitch for their work). If all goes well, I will have at least one novel, if not both, and maybe even my short story edited and resubmitted to Smashwords, where I have one short story published. That is my plan, perhaps doing this will supply a some income that we need. What about you? Has this effected your income? What are your plans to get over this event in time? And, has anyone contracted this virus or know someone who has? If so, I would love some personal (not media or professional input) information and what you or someone you know has gone through.

We are retired but our superannuation has gone down thousands of dollars. Hopefully it will recover when all this is over.

I hope so too, I just check our bills (and I hope I didn't miss any) and after paying everything except electric and internet, we only have enough for the internet, which is not needed as much.. Fortunately I will get my last paycheck before the electric bill is due..

@Carmelanirel2 Our service charges usually go up a little each July but because of the virus, they're freezing any increases till next year.

@JudyEv That's good. My husband brought up another pricey bill we have, property taxes. I think I need to go out and see what I can find job wise, we can't afford for me to take too much time editing a book that may never get published.

Hi @changjiangzhibin89 how are you doing? I am glad to see you are here. My husband can't go back to work because the virus is respiratory and with him just having a bypass, he can't be exposed to that.

I'm retired so nothing has changed for me. My brother is still working. So far, no one in our family has contracted the virus. We have been very lucky and very blessed.

What about not going out to eat changes, or going to the store that has everything you need? Or going to a movie or theater? Even those who are retired are experiencing changes and the list I made reminded me of a play I wanted to see at a theater that just opened up in town a few months ago.

@simone10 Without a job I can't afford the service fees for delivery, so I only go out when we absolutely need something. I did splurge the other day and got a pizza delivered, but it costs more for delivery and I probably won't be doing that again for a while.

@Carmelanirel2 Oh yeah, we are affected by some of that other stuff. We don't go out to eat so we always use a food delivery service so that hasn't changed. Every two weeks we have our groceries delivered so that hasn't changed. BUT, we are experiencing shortages of food and toilet paper just like everyone else. That's really the only thing that has changed for us but it's a huge thing!

I wish your husband recovered successfully! It's great that you write novels, I like it! As for the coronavirus, every Europe is coping very hard, the economy is collapsing! Many people get sick in a day, despite the restrictions that are required! Everyone handles income very hard. Some countries have set aside money to re-finance various companies, manufacturing and rebuild businesses. But after removing the virus! The picture is very sad!

that is so sad. So do you personally know someone who is sick? How are they doing?

@Stefoo Do you personally know someone who is sick? Like can you talk to them, find out how they are doing from their POV?

@Carmelanirel2 some patients are in security cells, hospitals. Or put them in an isolated place with many beds. Those who are sick and out of the place where they are housed ... are fined or sentenced to five years in prison. Patients are not allowed to see their loved ones! The hospitals provide them with the resources they need. Different parties have different legal rules.
