Meaningful discussions

There are a lot of discussions going on here, on myLot, we are free to express ourselves the way we want(obeying the rules, of course) and post about anything we want. I enjoy my time here, especially if I can further some discussions, where I can see different points of view, where I learn something new about life in other parts of the world, see plants and animals I have never seen, etc. I have had disagreements with some members, but that is the beautiful about it. We disagreed, but we did that with respect and accepting that it is okay to look differently at the same thing. What do you like to discuss about the most?

This is a forum for sharing opinion so the disagreements cannot be avoided. What's important is to use good words and avoid being rude.

@rappeter13 my top priority in forums is in learning particularly the culture in other countries. I am a traveler but I cannot travel far due to budget constraints. That is why I enjoy reading posts about the culture like in you case when you mentioned the gypsies.

@DianneN I understand that. I cannot argue with someone about a politician I don't know. I just want to know how the political live is perceived by individuals in the US, for example. You can imagine that I don't know the majority of the politicians from other countries.

I avoid religion talks, but I get involved in some political talks, for the sake of knowing what is happening in other countries, to see how people see the political life in their countries. Thank you for seeing me as your friend!

@rappeter13 I don’t like to discuss politics because there are some who turn it into arguments. They can’t change my mind, nor I theirs. I don’t need the drama in my life. I’m a happy go lucky person and prefer to keep it that way.

When there is disagreement with respect that's what we call healthy conversation. Politics or Religion would be a hot issue. And both issues I don't want to be discussed then will end up in negative argument.

I think you are right if you approach those hot topics with the case to combat them. I try to avoid religion, too, but I am interested in how people feel about both religion and politics.

People do have different opinions on some subjects, particularly now I think as many are a bit uptight about the pandemic.
