I've been having the weirdest dreams during quarantine.

please tell me I'm not the only one? first, hello myLot, I hope everyone is staying safe and sane. it's a rainy day here and I'm about to start my laundry. almost every night this week I've woken up from the strangest dreams. is it because I'm stuck inside? is it from stress due to coronavirus? or is it stress from everything else going on in my world? I've had dreams about tornadoes, giant floating cities, flaming hot Cheetos, huge indoor pools, sneaking into people's houses, all sorts of things that I can't explain. maybe my brain is just weird. has anyone else been having weird dreams since all this started? picture is a painting by Salvador Dali

That might be the way your brain way of adjusting with what;s happening around you. It's healthier that way.

Funny you showed Dali's melting watches picture---there is a new game on the Internet where people reproduce famous paintings with real people and props and that was one of them!!!

lucky! I'm a little envious you're having a good night's sleep, though the weird dreams have been a fun conversation starter each morning

You are fine. We all have too much time on our hands I believe. I remember snippets every now and then of dreams that make no sense.

You are right we are stressed to the extreme limit by this lockdown and the deaths taking place all around us. To get the weird dreams is outcome of this extreme stress.

When this all started I dreamed about it every night - weird drems like struggling to get out of difficult situations. Those have subsided now, thank goodness.

I haven't bee having weird dreams, but I've been having trouble with my sleep cycles. I have been waking up on a regular basis during the night, like I suddenly remember that I forgot to set my alarm or something (although it's always set). It's been weird, like constantly waking up every 2 hours of so. And of course, the interruption in my sleep cycle means that I am dragging my feet throughout the day.

@isweartokira Yes, waking up every 2 hours is not fun at all. Now that I'm over the virus and slowly returning to my normal routine, I'm hoping that my sleep pattern settles back into a more normal function.

strange, I've been the opposite, I go to bed even earlier than usual and wake up way later than usual. I wake up at 8 to take a pill and go to the bathroom and I would normally wake up then, but lately I fall back asleep and have yet another weird dream. waking up every two hours is no fun, though. hopefully that doesn't last too much longer for you

Your brain is probably very normal. These are scary times and many of us worry about what might happen. The news is horrifying at times. I have a wonderful poem I like to read at night by Wendell Berry called "Peace of the Wild Things". It soothes me. That may not be your thing but if you could face those fears and find something that calms you at night it might help. But accepting that you're normal might help also.
