I do believe that culture enables people to identify with how the community should behaves, but I strongly stand for parenting according to parents agreed values. It is important to only take relevant cultural norms in guiding children and not adopting principles that are not compatible with parents social and spiritual values and beliefs. I know this subject may raise other factors that should come into play when shaping behaviour. What do you think must guide parenting?

Parenting is rearing the children well. The children must be nourished with nutritious food, cared for when the children are 0 to 7 years old, teaching them the hygiene, play, development of the mind like reading, and simply bonding. When the children turns 8, the school setting becomes first in the children's minds. The parents must understand this. When the children turns teen, the awkward stage begins, then the parents must be keen to change in behavior. Calls for more understanding.

@17gracemalealea And I discovered that the most challenging stage is when the children have grown and are seeking advice as to what path they must thread in life. At 17, they hardly know yet what course to really take. At 24, the crossroads could be confusing. The parents, at this point, could very well share the wisdom of the old.

@eileenleyva Often parents miss opening up at critical stage during which building trust is fundamental. At Zero to 8 years a child has formulated personal views; hence it is critical that both parents play their roles. It is at this stage that future value and beliefs are formulated. This means if the child experienced confusing social and spiritual concepts, they may contribute to challenges at subsequent development stages. Teenage years are generally challenging because a child has gained a lot of information from community, peers, school and the media. Parents must therefore be aware of this and open doors to strengthen truths and rectify fake concepts especially on important subjects like sexuality and sensuality.

Yes parenting is categorised according to age. Often we delay strict application of rules as you indicated. Thank you!

I agree because education enables parents to explore and improve on own experiences.
