What I should say or what I want to say....

These two points have always been the greatest of all dilemmas in my life....
Recently, my best friend asked me something on which I wanted to shut him off and tell him he is stupid.... but then I chose to stay quiet, since I didn't wish to hurt him as he is already in vulnerable state.... instead I said something that would make him feel better even when I don't agree to that. What would you choose????
Should or Want...????

I am in the midst of that should or want too. But I believe that it is important to always do the "SHOULD". Sometimes, we need to say the truth to our friends even it will hurt them, it will help them to realize something. You can tell him the truth, at the same time the things that will make him better.

Emotional intelligence comes to the fore here. At some point, I reckon you tell him in a subtle manner but don't make the mistake of not letting him know the truth.Sure, sometimes it hurts.

Well, absolutely true.... I would agree.
I would always want to tell him the truth but it's just that he is bit fragile these days

For the moment I would tell him something nice and take it from there.
Again it all depends but sometimes the truth will not always help right away.

I think it depends on the situation. The truth hurts but it's better for some one to get the truth so that they are helped than making them feel nice but not receiving the help they actually need.
