Our next song trivia series will focus on bad weather....namely "rain." I've had plenty of rain here in New Jersey (USA), going back as far as January, so I thought this song subject would be appropriate. And maybe by doing a rain series it will bring about more sunny weather in my state. Time to get "soaked with some rainy tunes." These song titles associate certain things with that rainy weather. See if you can figure them out. And to start you off is a singer/songwriter from Canada's video about "Rainy Day People." Now Mr. Lightfoot is talking about a different kind of rain in this song. He's means family and extended family members who are there for you when your blue or need someone to support you. The "people" you can depend on when your having a "rainy-type" down day.... Hope you enjoyed listening to that Gordon Oldie. And now it's quiz time! Whodunnit? Can you name these rain songs and the artists who recorded them? 1. This was the breakthrough hit for this family group reaching # 2 on the Billboard charts. This family of musicians proceeded the Osmond's who were another family to have success on the Pop charts. The group was an inspiration for the TV show called The Partridge Family, featuring a Mom who formed a band with her children. This rain song has also been known to many as "The Flower Girl." Maybe because the lyrics mention flowers being everywhere including the flower girl's hair. This song was one of the group's biggest hits along with a song about "Hair." -Do you know this family of singers and their rain song? 2. Fun music fact: This song was co-written by Paul Williams, who went on to write hits for Three Dog Night, and the theme song for the TV show "The Love Boat." The Fifth Dimension passed on recording this tune, but a brother and sister duo picked it up and made it a big hit, and second with William as co-writer, their first one being "We've Only Just Begun." This sibling duo was one of the best-selling recording acts of the 1970s. In the song's lyrics the singer expresses a certain dislike for a day of the week and rain. The pop duo featured a female singer who played drums and her brother who played piano and arranged their songs. In 1983, the sister, after battling Anorexia Nervosa for several years, passed away from heart failure. -Do you know this brother-sister combo and their #2 Billboard charting rain hit? 3. Video Bonus- In 1976 Gordon Lightfoot wrote a song about a true event. A shipwreck on Lake Superior in November 1975 that claimed the lives of 29 crew members. -Do you know the name of this song track from Gordon's Summertime Dream album which reached #2 on the U.S. charts? Fun fact- If you reread the clues you'll discover that all of the songs in this trivia quiz were #2 hits! Wonder who kept those songs out of the #1 spot, lol. Ok, let's "not get caught out in the rain" and solve the answers to these song and artist clues. Remember part of the song's name has "rain" in it's title. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or, as the band Jefferson Starship would say, you can "Count On Me." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I haven't thought of the Cowsills in decades, they only had one or two hits that I'm aware of. I'm more of a psychedelic or hard rock fan so I didn't pay much attention to these soft rock type tunes.

I saw them a few years back on The Turtles Happy Together tour. The remaining sibs still sounded good. Anyway, thanks for the comments and enjoy this tune, a bit more psychedelic sounding than their other songs... Trivia Answers: 1. The Rain The Park & Other Things- The Cowsills 2. @dgobucks226 I might not know the song Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, but it's a legend here, so I've heard a lot about it. I know this song, at least I've heard it many times. I never knew the title or group.

#1 should be easy for me; but I'm having a brain freeze. 2. Rainy Days and Mondays - The Carpenters The only song I can think of is the Edmund Fitzgerald. I thought that one was on Lake Erie? I'm pretty clueless here.
