A macaroon is a small cookie or cake usually made from ground almonds or coconut. In America the best known variety is the coconut macaroon. When commercially made they are normally dense, moist and sweet. When homemade they are usually light and fluffy. Macaroons can be traced back to an Italian monastery in the 8th or 9th century. Recipes appeared in cookbooks as early as 1725 and used egg whites and almond paste as the main ingredients. Photo Credit: Pixabay

@LindaOHio I grew up on the coconut macaroons. We have them at our Jewish holiday of Passover. I get them and also found chocolate covered coconut ones. The chocolate covered ones tastes like mound bars.

@LindaOHio Those macaroons taste like them and they are very good. I look for them all the time at our holiday of Passover and get the regular macaroons too and they are also tasty.
