No. Cricket tournaments are not going to start as of now. Not even till September or October at least. So why I pronounce the above? Well, some of you might recall that I used to share cricket news sometimes. I keep a keen interest in cricket. Yet I have not had a chance to start such discussions for a few months because of the Lockdowns. Yet yesterday I watched highlights of a few old cricket matches. One was a India-New Zealand match of early 1986. Martin Crowe, Bruce Edgar and Richard Hadlee played well for Kiwis and they made 259 in 50 overs. In response, we had Sunil Gavaskar, known for being a conservative and not so quick runmaker hitting fours and sixes and scoring a short but quick 27 of 17 balls. Then Srikant and Mohinder Amarnath played great. Finally Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri took India to the winning score with almost 2 overs still left. Quite old matches, but delight to watch! And I felt refreshed after watching these matches!

The sports are finally opening now. The UFC league of mixed martial arts have already had 4 weeks of fighting and tomorrow is the 5th. Football is going to follow soon and probably other sports as well.

@Alexandoy Yet these would be now held in a different manner. And players might be under stricter supervision.

Lockdown has really affected sports lovers. My husband and daughter are doing the same. Watching old matches and their favorite moments.

Our sports have been affected by lockdown, too. My husband is sick of watching reruns of old games of any kind.

@DianneN Glad that it made you laugh. By the way, I have suggested one of the recent "Horsey" discussions to Vanny and Sojourner. Sojourner has given a response which is slightly "spicy". I am waiting for Vanny to invade that discussion- if you know a little bit of history of their interaction !!

I'm not sure if cricket is starting up in Australia again. It might be in WA but possibly only local matches.

@JudyEv Yes some matches could start, but not at a big scale before October-November time. Also, in Australia, main cricket season: Domestic plus International is from November to March. In fact, the match highlights that I was watching were of a match in Australia in early 1986.

The sports men have enough money. Nothing will happen if they don't play for a year

@Lavanya15 Yes some tournaments could be conducted without audience, but it is still not very clear.
