Why am I allergic to shrimp, lobster and prawn, but not allergic to crab, when they are all crustaceans?
Not everyone who has a history of allergies to a protein will suffer from allergies to all proteins, its nature is more specific (it even has something to do with genetics / history of allergy from mother or father)
For example, someone who is allergic to peanut protein is not necessarily allergic to green beans, even though it is the same as people.

@nawala123 Not at all, those are legumes and not nuts, nuts only grow on trees, peanuts grow underground.

@nawala123 That's so true. Some even outgrow their allergies. Some develop them late in life.

@DianneN allergy is very complicated thing. I eat crab, but my sister is allergic of all prawn, shrimp, lobster n crab

afaik, some people only experience an allergic reaction after consuming one type of seafood and some others can shortly experience allergies after consuming all of the seafood.

@nawala123 not fresh anymore. We bought twice like that. Prawns are better because we can easily determine if they are fresh or not.

I don't eat any of these crustaceans but yes certain food can be alergic . Some people are alergic to milk and even tomatoes.

@nawala123 you are not alone, i can't eat shrimp and prawn. There will be many red dot appear in my skin and i will have dizzy if i eat it.

I guess because certain types of seafood can trigger allergies. Some people only experience an allergic reaction after consuming one type of seafood, such as shrimp alone. Nonetheless, some others can shortly experience allergies after consuming seafood, however of type.

@nawala123 yup, the protein. As far as I know, allergies are caused because the immune system overreacts to foods containing protein. Nonetheless, not all types of food can cause this reaction. cmiiw

Im allergic to all of that but i ate them whenever its served on the table im just preparing medicine and a cup of sugar beside me
